“An offering… to me?”
Now it all made perfect sense! Why Delia was being called here, an ancient temple of all places. The succubi knew that her powers drew from mystic sources, and such a creature had links to ancient goddesses. Motherhood, fertility, strength, lust, dreams, all were connected in the ancient stars, for mortals to differentiate and make sense.
“I heard about such occurrences, but it is the first time this is happening to me. Perhaps my link to Hathor is growing stronger.”
Hathor was the Egyptian deity that Delia was linked to, and now she wondered about other links to witches. Over the years Delia met several witches, so it was nothing new to her. Hence, she felt a sense of familiarity and comfort already, looking softly at the girl over the lit candles.
“Poor girl. My dear, we need to get you healed. No worries, I’m here for you. Tell me, what is it that I can do for you, little one? Where are you from?”
She seemed surprised which made the ‘young’ witches lip quirk up in a smile. “Really? You should have gotten offering before. People bring them to me and then I make offerings to our mothers in kind.” She’d learned that young. Dragons hoarded gold, gods hoarded attention and witches...well they took and then gave. At least the good ones did.
The offer had her face softening even more then it normally was. Her head shook. “I just need to get home. I’m bound. I’ve only been gone an hour and I can already feel my body aging.” She murmured. It had been so long since she’d left and she didn’t like the feeling.
“Lousiana...the delta- the place where the sea turns into the river and then the river splits into the bayous. People don’t think of the delta as an old place but did you know theres a tree there thats over 2650 years old? Its the oldest living tree in the world.” She hummed, leaning back before pressing up against the wall.
