The mystery that was Herod’s Temple in Jerusalem is coming alive as we discover parts of that lost Jewish Temple that was mentioned in the Bible.
Working with Friezes
frieze frēz (in architecture) n. A plain or decorated horizontal part of an entablature between the architrave and cornice.
Using the cheats placeFriezes on/off (or true/false; on/false; true/off - they’re interchangeable), you can add a frieze (foundation) on top of a walled structure, another frieze or a foundation. (Capitalization is not necessary when using cheats.)
Disclaimer: I am by no means an expert builder and this was thrown together quickly.
The first two screen shots above show the same building without and then with a frieze, thus raising the domed roof. I prefer the height of the roof without the frieze, however, it drops over the windows, much to my displeasure.
The last screen shot is a structure with three levels/layers of frieze atop the walled structure placed on a foundation.
The lowest frieze extends the length and width of the structure below (to include the protruding office area).
The middle layer, I removed the outermost tile of the structure and removed 4x4 sections immediately below the uppermost skylights.
The uppermost level was trimmed back to leave just the four 4x4 skylight section.
The Platforms, Foundations (even the stilted options) & Deck options (both square and diagonal) will place friezes as long as the cheat is enabled. Place the square parts of the frieze before finishing with diagonal pieces (works much easier).
Disable the cheat to place either foundations or stages. Foundations cannot be placed while the cheat is enabled.
If you want a higher ceiling you can place a frieze above, but be sure there is no flooring immediately below the frieze - you cannot delete the flooring under a frieze without deleting the frieze itself, then the flooring.
A frieze can be placed so that it extends farther than the walls below it as long as there is support below. Use columns to provide the support to extend the frieze farther.
Experiment. Go crazy.
A frieze can be placed immediately stop a foundation (although I have found no real use for such yet - a raised pool or fountain, perhaps).
When placing a frieze upon a frieze, you may need to cover the lower frieze completely and use the sledgehammer to remove the parts not wanted. This is not always the case, however. As with a lot of build options, they can be tricky.
Friezes, like foundations, cannot intersect fences, so place the fences afterward.
Fences and half walls can be freely placed inside a frieze to cordon off space when the frieze extends beyond a room or outer wall.
Stairs. The height of a frieze is six stair rungs, while the foundation is four rungs. Keep this in mind when designing rooftop roosts, as you’ll need to allow for an additional tile.
Lighting. When using lighting with friezes to portray a vaulted ceiling, place invisible lighting on the floor below as the lighting placed inside a frieze will only light the frieze space. This is handy for using hanging lighting that drops too low to use in a single story space, yet not taking two full stories.
Friezes can be used to add architectural accents.
-------------------------------------
Using CFE presents a set of its own challenges. I avoid CFE unless I have trouble with leveling terrain.
Although I’ve not experimented with it, you should be able to adjust the height of a frieze with CFE.
-------------------------------------
I’m sure there are aspects of using friezes that I have missed here. Don’t be afraid to experiment.

Luxurious homes featuring woodblock printed panoramic wallpapers from the premier French manufacturer Zuber & Cie.
Since its founding in 1797, Zuber & Cie wallpapers’fame has spread far and wide, from King Louis Philippe awarding Jean Zuber the Legion of Honor in 1834 to Jackie Kennedy installing Zuber’s "Vues de l'Amérique du Nord" in the White House. According to France Today, the company still uses the same antique woodblocks, the same paint formulas, and the same time-honored processes to create its stunning wallpapers as it did in Jean Zuber’s time. Gorgeous displays of friezes, borders, ceiling roses and architectural trompe l’oeil, have been photographed for Zuber in homes in the United States, France, and the United Kingdom.

Placing Friezes on Any Wall Height - Post RoM Patch (it’s back baby!)
This is one of those things I have been constantly asked about when posting some of my builds (particularly Bradford Square) and was sad to say the undocumented feature was removed with the terrain patch. Some of you may not know but I am a GC (I just don’t scream about it) and this was one feature I wanted to get back for the builders. It really is something simple that can really make a build so I have been petitioning to show how much interest it got and for it to be included as an official feature, and guess what? It worked. Thank you to the gurus who put up with me for wanting this back.
Anyway, it really is quite simple process to add this to any build. Just be mindful of sims routing when doing this, OK?
Method:
Build you house to a point where you are done adjusting wall heights ect.
if you don’t have the highest wall height on the lot put it somewhere to get access to all frieze types. Either a wall segment like here,or adjust a lower level to the highest setting. Do not adjust the level you want the frieze on.
with your desired frieze actively chosen and holding down shift, place frieze wall segment by wall segment....
Until you are done. You are now free to delete the wall segment or change a room back to original height.
if you want to delete the frieze completely and the hammer tool is not working (happens on shortest height walls with tall friezes), just adjust the wall height to remove. If you want to change frieze type, just put new one over the old type.
This uploads to the gallery perfectly, the only thing that is noted that changing the room the frieze is placed on can remove it, hence why I said get the build to a state where you aren’t adjusting heights anymore.
Anyway, go free and build little birdies, and enjoy!
