some soft frog bros and sam headcanons

ok so first off alan is older than edgar and sam by about 2 years. during the movie, theyre 14 and 16.

neither frog really trusts mike, star, or laddie for a couple months after the events of the movie. they sneak holy water and garlic into things when they hang out with sam, and it drives everyone nuts.

alan doesnt like driving but edgar and sam bully him into getting his license so he can drive them to and from school.

the 3 of them ride around in the only vehicle alan can afford, a pickup truck thats more rust than truck. the bumper is held on by duct tape, only one door can be opened from the outside, and none of the windows go back up if theyre rolled down.

alan finds out that sams grandpa knows about cars and ends up begging him to help him keep his piece of shit running.

this leads to sam getting treated to the sight of alan all sweaty, grease streaked on his shirt, hands, and face, tinkering with his truck in sams driveway. its the beginning of sams massive crush on him.

alan actually really likes hanging out with grandpa emerson, like hes kinda crazy but he has interesting stories and alans interested in cars and thinks taxidermy is creepy but kinda nifty so ¯\_(ツ)_/ ¯

for a while, alan thinks he might have to drop out so he can help out around the shop more, but during his senior year (edgars sophomore year) their dad overdoses (he lives tho) and their parents decide to get clean and be good parents. edgar and alan no longer have to worry about running the shop on their own, and alan ends up doing well enough in school to get a few scholarships for a nearby college.

edgar has no plans whatsoever to go to college. for the most part, hes resigned to running the shop for years to come, despite lucys endless encouragement.

lucy makes sure the 2 of them know that theyre always welcome in her home; she knows theyve never had particularly supportive parents.

the 3 of them have regular movie night sleepovers, usually at the frogs' since the emersons still dont have a tv. sam likes to pick out movies with corey haim and corey feldman in them because hes convinced they look like him and edgar (the goonies canonically exists in the lost boys universe). edgar doesnt see it at all. one night they watch a remake of the blob and sam loses his shit when he sees alans doppelganger playing an usher.

sam is alans first kiss, first everything actually.

hes not sams first kiss, but he is the first boy sams ever loved.

alan comes out to edgar the summer after his junior year, long before he actually gets up the nerve to tell sam how he feels. its the most awkward thing hes ever done, and it takes ages to actually say the words, but edgar just kinda nods and is like "ok cool bro"

alan and sam are both dumb and oblivious to each others feelings until star steps in and gets them to talk about it lmao

after a series of dumbass events, they finally get together near the end of alans senior year (sams sophomore year) and date all through alans first year of college. hes turned half way through the first semester of his second year and basically disappears off the face of the earth for 2 whole years, scared of what he might to his brother, to their parents, to sam.

he lets them know hes alive a few months after he officially gives up on finding a cure. at that point, he knows hes probably going to be stuck like this for the rest of his life, and for all he knows he could be immortal. the idea of spending all that time alone is terrifying, and he figures he might as well be with the people he loves while he still can.

sam and edgar are kind of pissed that he just let them think he was dead or worse for so long, and edgar is 100% sure that he can still save alan, but sam can see how much the false hope hurts him. (i know sams not really around at that point but I Dont Care)

alan refuses to do anything more intimate than kissing with sam, and even that is only when hes recently fed. he feels selfish as hell for putting them in danger, but he doesnt think he could handle being alone again.

sam isnt scared of him, not really. alans always made him feel safe, and a little thing like vampirism cant change that.
