Hi all! Mod here.

I’ve been pretty sick these past few days. I’m not ignoring your asks, I promise! I just haven’t had the energy to answer them. When I’m better I’ll get right on it!

I know you all probably aren’t mad about it, I know you probably don’t think I’m ignoring you, but clarifying it does make my anxiety around it lessen a little, so forgive the uninteresting post.

Where is a good place to post non-fanworks?

I am in the process of writing a story with original characters and setting, and had intended to post it on AO3.  When I heard that AO3 is not accepting non-fan-works now, I wondered about where I could post it.  I definitely agree that AO3 should reserve its efforts for protecting fan-works, but this leaves me with a quandary: where is a good place to post a non-fan-work that would be as accepting and secure as AO3?

Good news - you can actually post original work to the Archive, as long as it falls within site guidelines. This is a statement per the fine folks that run AO3:

"As the Archive is focused on preserving fanworks, original fiction is allowed if the creator considers it to be "fannish". The Archive has maximum inclusiveness of fanworks as its goal, and there are many varieties of original works that are written in fannish traditions. One thing to note is that the Archive has a very strict "no commerce" policy - we cannot allow works or parts of works that link to merchandise, including paid versions of the stories."

So, as long as your original work is fannish and as you're not financially gaining from the work, you're good to post it! The Original Work tag actually has around 170k works in it.

If you're not certain your work fits the criteria we have on AO3, you can always check the TOS FAQ, or reach out to the AO3 staff via their technical support form.

⚡ Important Notice Regarding the Blog ⚡

So, hello - it's been a long while and I am so sorry for that. I never expected this blog to actually become something as big as it is and there was a lot of growth in a short while which scared me a lot. I made this blog on a whim and then within a short period of like 2 months I was sitting at around 400 followers, which doesn't seem like a lot but I don't like being known at all. I really just pushed this into limbo to "deal" with it. It was supposed to be a short hiatus so I can gather myself and try to get through the things that I had in the inbox but then I just never came back.

I am coming back to write again, but hopefully this time I can prepare better for it. I have been considering coming back and doing some of the requests in the inbox, but I realized that was what I was avoiding this whole time.

I deleted everything in the inbox and I am starting fresh.

Starting April 25, the inbox will be open for requests with a cap of 10 before closing until I finish that batch of requests. I haven't been writing much for Hypmic as of late, so I really just want to warm up a bit and also pace myself.

I'm also not sure if Mod Custard is going to work on this so for now, it's just me.
