An informal hedge has been created by a planting of Salvia 'Hot Lips' (ornamental sage). This vigorous cultivar thrives in a sunny location with a well-drained soil. The aromatic foliage has small leaves, which can turn dark red in autumn. The stems can be hard pruned in the spring to create a density of cover and control height.
