I'm freshman this year I'm so scared I know two people one who really pissed me off and the other is just really bad. I can't make friends and I suck at talking to people
friend!! i will let you in on a small secret. the first year of my high school, i knew ONE person going there. admittedly that person was my best friend, but as stated before, i knew NO ONE else and i was making a change from a SCHOOL full of 65 kids to a school full of 2000. but, oddly enough, i made a friend the day of orientation just based on the fact that i went by a nickname that sparked a conversation. literally ALL of my school friends, if not introduced by that one friend i had to start with, came up to me. i made friends in classes through groups i was put in or people just genuinely being nice and sparking conversation.
if you’re worried about making friends, join a club. right then you have automatic access to loads of people who share an interest with you, and more likely than not you’ll eventually be forced to talk to them at least once which isn’t really such a bad thing in the long run. also, befriend teachers, seriously. even if the only friends you have first semester end up being your teachers, at least you’ll have someone and trust me, if you get any good ones, they understand.
you’ll do just fine, man! just don’t worry too much about it and don’t keep too much to yourself, people will approach you if deemed approachable and you’ll make friends no problem!!
