Frosted Windowpanes: a Merry Little Epilogue
Hi, everyone! Been a while, huh?
I really wanted to write a full sequel to this story, but I just haven’t had the time or mental function to get around to it. But I was bored cooped up at home today and thought I could at least write a little something, so here we go!! Hope y’all like it, and I hope you’re all having lovely holidays 💕
Characters belong to @lumosinlove
CWs: food, holidays, too much fluff
.
Logan perched himself on the kitchen counter, cradling an almost-empty bowl of frosting in one hand and a spoon in the other. The oven radiated warmth into the small space, which was bright with afternoon sunshine and amplified by the white expanse of snow outside the window. It was perfect in the way only the holidays could bring - surrounded by loved ones, cookies baking in the oven until they were nice and golden brown, no more work stress. It was soft and calm and peaceful.
If you could ignore Finn screeching along to the Christmas playlist, that is.
Logan loved him for it, anyways.
I never tire of this view :)
Day 8: Pine Tree
So I broke the rules again :) I couldn’t resist! This was the only thing I could think of so it’s what you’re getting. This is set in @heyitssmiller‘s Frosted Windowpanes AU, with our dear friends Finn, June, and Heather. There’s pining and drunk tree decorating. I wrote this in class again, english is boring. Prompt from @remus-john-lupin, characters from the wonderful @lumosinlove.
“Finn! Get your ass down here!” June called from the stairwell. “Or this tree is staying on your rental car.”
Finn rolled his eyes but dutifully pushed himself off the couch, following June and Heather downstairs and outside. The three of them examined the tree resting precariously on the car, wondering just how the hell they were going to get it inside.
“Did you have to get one so big?” Heather sighed.
“Don’t blame me!” Finn protested. “Logan picked it out.” He flushed at the thought of the brown-haired young man.
“Oh, Logan picked it out, did he?” The girls exchanged a knowing glance. “Alright, then.” With a grunt, June grabbed the trunk of the tree and yanked it to the ground.
“Finn, grab the other end,” she instructed. “Heather, can you get the door?” Both did as she asked and they lugged the heavy tree up the stairs, needles shedding with each movement. When they reached the apartment door, Heather held it open as wide as it would go and June and Finn dragged it inside.
“Oh boy,” June sighed, setting it down and shaking her hands out. “We made quite a mess, didn’t we?”
“It’s okay, we can clean it up later,” Finn replied, collapsing on the couch once more. June shrugged and sat down next to him, Heather joining them a moment later.
Half an hour later they were in the same positions, this time with wine glasses in their hands. They stared at the tree lying in the middle of the living room, all three tired and just a little bit drunk.
“So,” Heather started. “Tell us about these boys you’ve fallen in love with.”
Finn groaned. “Why is everyone so hot here? I swear to God, I’m gonna die. And the fucking French. Oh, and do not get me started on the accents, I mean holy shit. Is Leo even real?”
There was a pause and then June and Heather both burst out laughing.
“Oh, you’ve got it bad, hun,” June cackled.
“Don’t laugh at me,” Finn complained. “What do I do? I’m leaving in a week.”
Junes sighed, turning serious for a moment. “You have to decide if you think they’re worth it or not.”
“Well, how the fuck do I do that?”
“Finn...”
He sighed. “Let’s just get ridiculously drunk and decorate this tree. At least it’ll take my mind off it. Besides, remember how much fun we used to have?” June nodded fondly.
“Alright. I’ll get more wine.”
The tree took an hour to decorate, mainly because by the time they finally finished putting the lights on, they were all a little too drunk to really be handling delicate ornaments. By some miracle, they managed not to break anything. But it was finished, and together the three flopped onto the couch to admire their handiwork.
It was a mess. The lights were all over the place, placed unevenly on the branches, leaving them condensed in some places and bare in others. The ornaments weren’t much better, although those had been spread out a bit better. It was the icicles that really did it, though. Heather had found a pack of them at the bottom of their decorations box and immediately chaos had ensued. They had thrown them everywhere, giggling hysterically as they got caught in Heather’s hair and the tree and the hanging light.
Finn felt like he was 17 again, trying champagne for the first time and getting ridiculously drunk with June by his side, listening to her rant about her boyfriend, wishing he could just lean kiss her. He felt the same now, but this time it was two boys that occupied his thoughts.
“‘M gonna ask them out tomorrow,” he slurred, eyes falling closed.
“Whatever you say,” June replied. Within a moment, all three were fast asleep. And if they severely regretted their decisions in the morning, well, that was a problem for future them.
~ Silver and Gray ~
Most memorable scene would have to be all the Christmas tree puns by Talker and Noelle from part 2 of Frosted Windowpanes.
"So who are you pining over?"
"He's become such a sap."
"They have such good chemis-tree."
Pure gold.
Hahaha if this is my legacy I’m happy about it 😂
Thank you :)
