Loki rarepairs
Shadow Shows by scioscribe Heimdall/Loki, 5k. Asgard has very few resources, and desperate times call for desperate measures; or, Loki sneaks off to get gangbanged for the good of Asgard. I love the characterization here, where Loki finds the intersection of usefulness and his own self-loathing but he has people in his life who refuse to let him take that route any more than absolutely necessary. The little hints of Heimdall's perspective and his care for Loki are also really great, and I LOVE the hopeful note the fic ends on.
Red (series) by darlingred1 Natasha/Loki, 61k. Post-Ragnarok, Loki starts showing up where Natasha is, clearly wanting something. Friends, this is some exquisite femdom. The porn is good, the emotional dynamics are so carefully wrought and iddy as hell, the occasional intrusions of plot ground the porn and make it that much better, and eventually Natasha and Loki’s D/s relationship fixes Infinity War and saves the day. A delicious read. Tea with the Hatter (TGIF) by theorytale Loki/Tony, 61k. I liked the characterization and the dynamic between them, and I loved the psychology of the time loop and how it’s been affecting Tony all this time. I love that we get a Tony who’s already been stuck in time for who knows how long, who’s already clearly had his whole mental landscape warped by it.
If I (n)ever work on castle coffee just know that at least 45% of what Loki does is to get and keep Heimdall's attention and affection
An Anchor In The Darkness
Ao3
He wakes in the dark, clinging to his sheets, breath heavy, chest tight, just like always. He keeps his eyes squeezed shut for a long time. Too long. His heart beats faster and faster as the fear of what he might see when he opens them fills him. The dread nestles in his chest, dark tendrils curling around his heart and squeezing until he can barely breathe. Loki forces his eyes open, pushes himself so hard his nightstand slides three inches across the floor, and breathes out finally, hard, like he’s been punched in the chest.
What he sees calms him. It’s just his room. No stars, no debris, no broken spaceships, no one there to torment and torture him. Just his room. His small space that the avengers had been kind enough to let him have on earth. He hadn’t expected it. Hadn’t deserved it. But they’d let him stay all the same. Him, Thor, and all of their people. They’d given them a home. And he should feel safe. But he doesn’t.
He never does.
Not in the dark.
He closes his eyes again, they flutter back open almost immediately and he growls at himself in the dark.
“You’re being foolish. There’s nothing here.” He whispers to himself, slamming his hand against his mattress in frustration. He could do this all night. Has done this all night. Night after night, lying in the dark, refusing to turn on the light, he was bigger than that. He refused to let his memories win.
He laid there, staring at his wall in the dark, his eyes focusing and un-focusing on nothing in the darkness.
His hand clenched back around his sheets when he heard his door knob turn. He watched the sliver of light from the hall grow across his wall and then blinked once at the shadow that filled the patch of light. He watched the shadow stand there for a moment and then shut his eyes, knowing that he was hiding nothing. He couldn’t. Not from him.
Three sentence fic continued
For nemithine, who wanted an AU with intersex jotun Loki having to decide who to marry for a treaty with Asgard. This one got away from me a bit, but I kept to the three sentence format. Hope you like it!
"Enough, Gallows God!" Laufey lets their ice knife dissolve at feeling the pressure of Odin King's spear at their throat, his one eye watchful, wary and weary.
"We shall talk," Odin says and the spear retreats.
Frostkeeper Ficlet
Just a test to see how I felt writing this, and to see if anyone would like to see it expanded at some point.
Loki stared down at Hǫfuð where it disappeared into his chest. This end was unavoidable. The Norns had foretold their fates at the beginning of time. The Trickster’s body trembled. Long moments passed, the entirety of time between them, before those green eyes finally lifted. It was a child that stood before Heimdall then, the child he had watched grow to cause the destruction raging around them.
Loki slumped forward further onto the sword. Heimdall opened his arms to catch the Trickster, the only kindness he had ever shown Loki.
Loki returned the favor by slitting his throat. Heimdall didn’t even blink. He had known. What he had not anticipated were Loki’s last words. “Not again, Heimdall. Please, not again.”
At the end of all, golden eyes slid shut.
/
At the beginning of all, golden eyes opened. Words in a voice he had never heard before echoed in his ears. “Not again, Heimdall. Please, not again.” Through his long watch, those words stayed with him, but never could he identify the voice. Not until the small Jotun babe Odin had claimed as his own son grew into his silver tongue.
I don't ship frostkeeper although I find it an amusing venture.
If I were ever going to write a fiction about frostkeeper I would start with a young Loki. He's probably under a century of age, there's still much to learn magic-wise. And he's likely very fascinated and yet equally intimidated by Heimdall and his ability to see all, whether it's the dew of morning dripping from a newly grown leaf of grass to the magnificent explosion of a star that others won't see the result of for many years.
Being curious of Heimdall's ability, I bet Loki would make an occasional trek from the palace to the bifrost where he'd pester the god with his questions. "What's going on in Alfheim? With the vanir? What part of Midgard is snowing right now?" Things like that, since Heimdall could look and answer. Some questions, Heimdall would dismiss. Some he would address.
Eventually, Loki would become more selective of his questions. Since Heimdall would probably only entertain him with a few answers,--he's a prince and it's impolite to ignore a prince--Loki would ask questions the answers to which he'd really want to hear, as opposed to other things. This is the beginning of Loki's curiosity about the rest of the universe.
Eventually, Thor would have trained long and hard enough to be deployed with the rest of Asgard's finest to settle battles and wars. And Loki would stay behind as always since he's too weak and his abilities with magic are overlooked as little tricks. Since Thor would be gone a long time, Loki would make the trek to the bifrost every few days to ask Heimdall how Thor was doing. And this would become the norm of many of Loki's visits. When Thor was away, his questions would be about Thor. When Thor was home, his questions would be about different realms of the universe.
Heimdall wouldn't admit it, but eventually he would start to look forward to the thin prince's visits. He doesn't have friends to speak of since he takes his job very seriously. He doesn't entertain others with answers simply because he doesn't have to and it wouldn't necessarily be considered rude if he ignored him. Most of Asgard is more focused on training than they are about the universe and the cultures within it anyway. Loki has a different set of eyes, very curious about many things. Sometimes Heimdall fears his curiosity will ruin him and for this reason, Heimdall would keep his answers limited and the information he does divulge would be miniscule. But still, Loki is the only one who makes the effort to visit him, regardless of the inconsistency of his visits. His questions are almost reflective of his own personality.
Heimdall would never allow himself to express any emotions, he takes his job a bit seriously. Though if one could see inside Heimdall's head, one would say he probably started caring about Loki after many years of this ritual of visits and questions. When Loki finally demonstrates his independence to Odin, that he'd be able to handle himself in the other realms, and persuades Odin to let him leave Asgard, Heimdall would be mildly concerned. Instead of showing any sign of disapproval of the prince's wishes to travel, Heimdall would instead tell him of some places he'd likely be interested in. If the prince is going to leave, he might as well be insured some fun in his travels. He doesn't smile often, though when he does, Heimdall's glad to be able to see it, no matter where in the universe Loki is in.
Loki's interest in Heimdall wouldn't turn into much else, other than some respect and admiration for Heimdall. He wouldn't say it, but he appreciates the time Heimdall gives him. He was never bratty enough to push rank or title on Heimdall, throwing it in Heimdall's face that Loki was a prince and so it would be in Heimdall's best interest to answer his questions. And for that reason, Heimdall felt a little more inclined to answer his questions and a bit of respect.
I PROMISE I WILL COLOUR THIS SOMETIME (probably when I wake up or somethin') AHH when it's not you know. 6 am LMAO.
