Keepers, Kittens, and Herbalists
Smallpebble, Shrewbelly, Starkpath, Frostshadow, Fog, Night, Lichen
Smallpebble is currently the only Marsh Colony Herbalist, as the colony only just lost Ruddywhisker and Starrybog in the last few seasons, but she handles it with grace. Marsh Colony cats are hardy, and with Smallpebble on the job, most illnesses or wounds are caught before they have a chance to spread.Â
In particular, she keeps a close eye on Marsh Colonyâs Keepers and Kittens. And since Shrewbellyâs mother was Starrybog, the older Keeper has a good sense of what to look for and consult Smallpebble about.
Shrewbelly used to have to manage all the Keeper duties by himself, but recent additions to his rank are Starkpath and Frostshadow. Starkpath is so diligent and careful, and Frostshadow so soft and caring. Together, itâs given Shrewbelly some extra time to devote solely to his new mate and Kitten, Lichen.
âThe Spirits Beyond and the Spirits to Come are one and the same. They are the cycle of birth, life, death, and rebirth. We are the Spirits, and the Spirits are us, and we are whole.â Gentlestar, Keeper of Marsh Colony
I once again couldn't help myself and since the Marsh Colony video just came out, I decided to draw Frostshadow and Tigerstripe!
Frostshadow, Keeper-in-Training of Marsh Colony
Every ranger who had a reason to go had a greater reason to stay. Tigerstripe would be too self-destructive if left to his own devices, and Frostshadowâthe one cat who might be able to control those tendenciesâwas currently training to be a Keeper. None of the Keepersâ skills lent well to tasks outside the base.
Who are Frostshadowâs parents/whatâs her backstory? I remember when I first saw the old height chart, Iâd thought she was literates with Halfmask due to their similar build and coloring. As the âsee the good in everyoneâ type, whatâs she think of Wildfur?
Frostshadow is sure there's some good in Wildfur, and she's even seen when others haven't. But he's older and intimidating enough for Frostshadow to keep those thoughts to herself.
Frostshadow shares something in common with cats like Crowstalker, Breezeheart, Nightpool, Fernface, and Volefur. She was just a kitten when she was found and taken in. She doesn't remember her past.
Frostshadow is slightly unique tho because she's probably one of the youngest cats to be found in this way. Most kittens are at least old enough to get around on their own a bit, but Frostshadow was just a mewling lil thing with her eyes still closed.
It was very lucky that Marsh Colony found her when they did...
That's a story for another time, though ;)
sorry if i've already sent this but i like frostshadow and tigerstripe a lot.... guys seek therapy <3
They are messy, messy, MESSY! Sometimes we all love watching a car crash.
Shrewbelly purred with satisfaction as he wrapped up his story about Captain Hawkshell saving a kitten from the hawk that earned her name and reputation as the Soaring Protector. Stark, Red, and Boulder nestled into their soft bedding. Red was barely old enough to understand the story as it was, so he had nodded off early. Stark had fallen asleep halfway through the tale, it was one of her favorite stories and Shrewbelly was sure she had asked for it a dozen times by now, but Boulder managed to make it through to the end of the tale this time. The little fluffy kitten usually got bored after the exciting hawk fight in the middle, but he seemed determined to stay awake through it this time. Mostly because Stark had teased him from not knowing the end. But almost as soon as Shrewbelly finished, Boulderâs eyes dropped closed. The last of his energy had been spent.
