🌊 FrothReport #31 - Parabéns Adriano [Forca ~ Equilibria ~ Amor]
ALOHA everyone, welcome to the final edition of the FrothReport for 2015.
Parabéns Adriano [Forca ~ Equilibria ~ Amor]
Truth be told, yesterday was awesome, and today I’m a little hungover from all the excitement. Adriano De Souza (BRA)... WOW! I’m not sure if there has ever been a Champion who worked harder to achieve their dreams than you, and I’m so freaking stoked for you. Thank you for all your hard work, dedication, and perseverance, you’re an inspiration to me and for generations to come!
Going into Pipe 6 different surfers were in the running to win this years world title: Mick Fanning, Gabriel Medina, Owen Wright, Julian Wilson, Filipe Toledo, and Adriano De Souza. Much of the hype was around Gabriel repeating as Champion, or Mick winning his fourth world title, but I can count on one hand how many people I spoke with who picked Adriano to win, even though he was the points leader (an wore the yellow jersey) for much of the season.
You worked your ass off, and you won! Epic underdog story, and I couldn’t be more stoked for you Adriano!
So here are the numbers...
Super-Nerdy-Statistical-Analysis of the 2015 Billabong Pipe Masters:
1. Kelly Slater (USA) - 7.02
2a. Adriano De Souza (BRA) - 6.89
2b. Gabriel Medina (BRA) - 6.89
4. Mick Fanning (AUS) - 6.32
5. Jonh John Florence (HAW) - 6.09
As the numbers stand, Kelly Slater was actually #FROTHING slightly harder than Adriano, but he was eliminated by Mick in round 5. That’s how if goes, this isn’t basketball where the rim is always 10′ above the court, the ocean is a totally different animal. The FrothReport is a statistical analysis which normalizes the different variables from heat to heat, and returns a number which describes who was #GoingForIT the most!
Adriano was slightly out frothed by Kelly at the Billabong Pipe Masters, but over the course of the season, nobody frothed harder than mister De Souza. Below are the numbers:
Super-Nerdy-Statistical-Analysis of the 2015 Men’s Samsung Galaxy Championship Tour:
1. Adriano De Souza (BRA) - 6.59
2. Mick Fanning (AUS) - 6.39
3. Owen Wright (AUS) - 6.17
4. Gabriel Medina (BRA) - 6.01
5. Italo Ferreira (BRA) - 5.94
So there it is... Only 0.20 froth separated first and second, which is awesome. I think it’s super-awesome that Adriano, a guy known for his work ethic, won the world title, and the 2015 FROTH Title designed to quantify who wants it more, who is not just surfing the best, but who is working the hardest, who is FROTHING the most! Proof my top-secret algorithm is valid!
So here we are at the end of 2015, and without giving anything away, I’m inspired to announce that FrothReport.com has big things planned for the 2016 season. You’re just going to have to stay tuned to find out more, but here’s the schedule for your convenience:
1. Quicksilver Pro Gold Coast (March 10 - March 21)
2. Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach (March 24 - April 5)
3. Drug Aware Margaret River Pro (April 8 - April 19)
4. Rio Pro (May 10 - May 21)
5. Fiji Pro (June 5 - June 17)

9. Quicksilver Pro France (October 4 - October 15)
10. Moche Rip Curl Pro Portugal (October 18 - October 29)

BOOM, there it is the 2016 World Championship Tour Men’s schedule. Will Adriano be able to defend his title, or will this be the year a Hawaiian (possibly John John?) lays claim to the title? The only thing we can say for sure, it’s going to be awesome, and the FrothReport will be there to bring you super-nerdy breakdowns and some new bonus content for 2016, I think you’re going to love it, but that’s all for now...
