When he hears that Twyla's cousin has a place he rents out, David leaps at the chance to have some time on his own away from his sister in the next bed, and his parents in the next room, to think about what he's going to do with the Blouse Barn money. What he isn't expecting is for the guy who delivers firewood to the guests in the cabin to be so ridiculously gorgeous.

He really doesn't need the distraction. Unfortunately, the more he gets to know Patrick, the harder it is to ignore his growing attraction.

“Everything is wrong. This was supposed to be an anniversary trip and my boyfriend just stood me up, and said he loves someone else. I’m here alone, and my driver said he’d be back for me after the storm cleared.” 

When David is abandoned at an Ice Hotel due to a winter storm, he makes the most of it with the cute owner, Patrick.

Just For You

The thing is, David really does love wrapping gifts. It’s easy to get lost in the rhythm of it, in the glide of the scissors through artfully decorated gift wrap, the folding of the paper sheet into sharp creases, the decisive press of tape to seal the loose edges, and the precise placement of a bow or ribbon. There’s something intensely satisfying about laying down the scissors and seeing the final product, all the neat corners and tidy edges, finished off with the flair of a curling ribbon.

When David sees the poorly-wrapped presents his friend has prepared to send out to his friends and family he can't sit by and let it happen, not if he can do something to help. The fact that he happens to be quietly in love and pining for Patrick is beside the point - he's doing this for the sake of good taste.

... Although Patrick's smile is an extra bonus.

He was the reason David was home so early, nervously awaiting the arrival of the new piano player. He’d hoped this rift between Shaffer and his mother was enough to prompt the long overdue retirement of The Number, the gift of yuletide relief. But apparently Moira was taking it as an opportunity to breathe new life into the performance. New pianist, new arrangement, new choreography.

When Patrick finds out how much David adores ice skating, he takes it upon himself to sign them up for a couples' skate thinking it will be the perfect wintery date. Unfortunately, he forgot one minor detail: he doesn't exactly know how to skate and spends a great deal of their time falling on the ice rather than skating on it.

Luckily for Patrick, David is more than prepared to kiss it all better.

In order to raise money for the Winter Festival and Ronnie Lee's Rec Centre, Schitt's Creek's Town Council offers plastic reindeer for sale to local businesses and individuals to decorate and enter into a contest judged by the town's residents. David is adamantly opposed to participating in such an incorrect contest, but Patrick and everyone around him get involved and show off their artistic sides.

There’s snow forecast for the day of the vendor trip, but it’s Schitt’s Creek and it never snows. Right?
