ok guys i have a concept. Dragons, but based on fruits. in a way, kinda.
So to start out with, there are dragons, obviously, but we need MORE dragons. how do we get more dragons? sex dragon eggs and gold. the dragons lay eggs in a bunch, imagine frogspawn in a way, and then cover that up with gold. now you have a bunch of dragon eggs in a gold encasing. the dragonlings are attracted to the gold, so one they hatch they start pushing around to get to it. if there are a lot of dragonlings, theyll eat a few of them on the way out of the egg. this is required, i need these big lizards to mildly be like surinam toads, which i think are awesome.
so now they get out of the egg. the parent dragons hoard of gold keeps the dragonlings in the nest as they really like it. maybe they eat the gold or get nutrients from it in a way, idk, not super sure abt that. gold is def important, i like the idea of a gold hoarding dragon, i like all of the dragons really but these fruit guys understand the need for Shiny.
whats really imprtant though is the eggs and how they work. different species of dragons do it differently. the eggs are based of seed or vesicles or whatever. fruits that have very obvious vesicles or things like that, (lemons, pomegranates, limes, oranges, (just realized most of these also have seeds. no they dont not anymore) etc.) will use this, ones that have more obvious seeds (apples, cherries, watermelons, etc.) will use these. the gold encasing us just what separates the seeds from the outside, so peels and things. if something is off and contradicts this? no it doesnt. im doing this off of a 3 second idea and just want my lemon dragons. dragons based on pomegranates lay lots of eggs all together, with a medium thickness gold encasing. dragons based on strawberries lay lots of eggs, but more spaced out and the eggs are almost IN the gold, as opposed to encased in it. apple based dragons lay only a few eggs, but have a very thick gold encasing around them. if that makes sense.
this also affects how many dragons there are, and which are common or not! pomegranete or lemon dragons are pretty common, as they lay lots of eggs at a time, and grape or cherry dragons are less common because they lay fewer eggs, if that makes sense. it also affects dragon sizes, and powers and things. lemon and lime dragons spit acid rather than breathing fire, watermalon and banana dragons are always super hard to tell apart from some other dragons, and they dont do anything because they never taste right in slushies i say so. they are still cool though, imagine watermelon dragons as a puppy that hasnt grown into its paws yet, except these guys are huge. and of course, the fruit theyre based off of affects colorings and things, because i want my lemon yellow dragons but not in a super obvious way, just like, strawberry dragons are red, blueberry ones are a purply color, but not an exact match, so watermelon dragons arent green striped or anything.
and of course, there is the elusive, rare dragon taht most people believe is only a fable. the elder dragons. the Dragonfruit dragons. :)
this idea did stem from this drawing i saw, its super cool so go check it out :D
