...Ok so! What's the best Zelink that no one talks about, and why do you think people forget about it?
It's a tie between ALTTP/OOA/OOS and MC/FS/FSA
okay well technically it's not a tie, there's a pretty clear difference in which has more fic, but still. Compared to say, the amount of BOTW Zelink out there...
Statistically they're together on the bottom end of the chart
The explanation is twofold! First is that they're 2D games, which means a smaller audience, and not as many people out there writing fic about them.
Then, for the more specific reasons:
Alttp is older, so it has lesser amount of people writing fic for it. This is combined with the fact that Alttp Link is the same as LA Link. Which means it runs up against the giant contender that is Marink. Which means less people write Alttp Zelink because to them, Marink is otp. which sure marink is adorable i enjoy writing it myself i just don't see why link has to be forever alone after her disappearance why can't he heal and find happiness with someone else i.e. zelda
There's also the popular headcanon that Alttp Zelda and Link are siblings which... i mean... yeah.
The Four Sword group, which i am putting together for ease and vibes and similar plotlines (also cause four) has several disadvantages. Minish Cap and FS aren't as well known, hence smaller audience hence less people writing fic.
FSA is more well known, but has the disadvantage of the manga. Because the manga focus so much on the Colors, and does an amazing job, and everyone is so focus on the found family because it's frankly amazing, and Zelda is forgotten. Which is a shame, because she's really cool and FSA Link's crush on her is adorable.
Anyway, there, my analysis! I could be completely wrong, but these seem to be the main reasons to me?
