So turns out Aquarius is alive and well. All Lucy has to do is play FIND MY KEY! In my last post about Aquarius returning I stated that if Aquarius stays or if an alternative is made for her to return permanently then Lucy's character development would be for nothing. And guess what Mashima pulled it off. It’s like the Tartarus moment with Lucy breaking the key never happened. I’m sure most of the FT fandom is stoked for Lucy’s new task but I’m not just because the Lucy haters have something to bash Lucy for. I really like Lucy for what she’s gone through and how strong of a person she has become but again that development happened because of the tragic moment of Tartarus. *sigh* What do you guys think?

So, after reading the newest (#469) chapter of Fairy Tail I’m feeling a bit weird. 

About the not finding a heartbeat for a bit stuff, because well - I happened to do the same (okay, not the same I used a person to do the deed, not magical tumors) to one of the characters in my yet-unpublished chapter.

Now it’s going to look like I’m following Mashima like a puppy lost in the fanfiction world _^_’

Fairy Tail Manga Ending

So this is just my little headcannon and it does contain spoilers for chapter 469 so precede at your own risk.

It’s apparent now that Lucy will be going after Aquarius’s key when this final battle is over. That is assuming she survives. I’m still worried Zeref will use her to bait Natsu and she’ll get caught in the crossfire. But this headcannon is assuming she survives it all. She’s promised to go find the key, and it personally reminded me of Natsu’s hunt for Igneel back in the early days of Fairy Tail. And when he was on the journey he went alone. I think Lucy is going to do this one solo too.

I still believe nalu will cannon before the end. Mashima has spent too much time teasing nalu moments and I have a strong feeling he’ll want them together in the end.

Lots of people are going to want to follow Lucy, if they survive all this that is. Cana of course is currently being pictured as Lucy’s best friend and we know that Levy and Lucy have always been very close. Gray has always given me a big brother vibe and if he goes with her Juvia would be sure to follow. Gajeel too would follow Levy. Ezra is everyone’s big sister and Wendy is always looking for adventure. And Natsu. Regardless of how much you ship nalu, you have to admit he would give his life to protect her. Lucy isn’t going to allow any of them to come. This is /her/ journey and something she has to do for herself. SAnd now we have Brandish. She’s actually the only one I could see Lucy allowing to come along because of their history and shared bound with Aquarius. But that’s contingent upon how these next chapters play out because like Makarov, said Brandish is still a POW.

That being said, this is how I picture the last ever panel of Fairy Tail: Lucy embarking on her new solo journey a hand in the air waving goodbye possibly doing the fairy tail hand thingy with her back to us all saying something like “don’t worry I’ll be back before you know it” and we’ll see Natsu crying but with a proud smile on his face because he alone understands the importance of her journey and the need to do it alone. Yes he’ll be heartbroken and there will be a lot of crying in the last chapter, but it’ll be happy tears. Reunions and cannons all over the place. And I can see Natsu running after her, not to follow her, but to kiss her goodbye and to say “good luck Luce, now hurry up before someone beats you to the key”

I mean Mashima could do another entire arc about Lucy hunting for the key and someone important finding it and having this whole big showdown except that this is the last arc and I doubt the key will be found before the arc ends just by the way Aquarius was talking. This journey will be he beginning of a new era that we and all the others won’t get to experience with Lucy.
