"Those two are our mother and father.“

If this is Mama Dragneel
Who the hell is this?
Art from Mashima’s twitter
So, to recap: Sting was the first of Natsu friends to be in his "heart", and Sting got angry with Larcade because he smelled like Natsu. Are we sure Mashima isn't planning in making Stingsu canon ;) ? (This is without talking about Sting enjoying eating "white" stuff from another guy...)
I’ll start off by saying, I didn’t actually expect to get a stingsu ask. Yay!
However, Sting is someone I ship with quite a few people: Natsu, Rogue, Minerva, Gray, Rufus, ect.
I find it interesting that Sting is the one in Natsu’s heart, likely because his memory of Zeref disappears when Natsu is revived; therefore, Zeref needs another body interact in. (Though it is Stings body, it may as well still be Zerefs consciousness.)
Stings attitude towards Larcarde did make me laugh though and brought stingsu feelings. It’s nice to know that it was not Yukino, Lector or Frosch scent that initially got Sting to their location, instead it was the familiarity to Natsu. (Much like when Natsu was able to connect Silvers scent to Grays during Tartorus.) “I hate you because you smell like Natsu.” Jealous boyfriend wants to know what’s going on? ;)
But, from my own interest, I have ships I like and I also have ships I fully do want to see canon. Stingsu, unfortunately, does not fit into the second category for me. I myself would like to see sting//yu become canon, though stingsu is one of my favorite rarepairs.
“Natsu! Please! Open your eyes!” “Please..just open your eyes..! I’m begging you..”
“The hell is this stuff...tastes kinda funny...although, actually...it’s making me feel kinda good! Nothin’ white is gonna work on me.”
Thoughts on Natsu
So if you saw my earlier post about what I thought of this weeks chapter, then you’ll know there were some issues I took with it. Now it’s later in the day and have had time to think about it. What I have come up with is that this negative attitude comes from what I fear will happen later down the road in the story. And it all revolves around Natsu.
You see, with all this revelation happening and finding out all this stuff about Natsu’s past (and the other dragon slayers to an extent) I have a bad feeling that it may change Natsu’s character and in a bad way. What do I mean? Well, I don’t want to see him grow attached this past life of his. Think about for a minute. Why would Natsu even have single remote care for his brother Zeref? Zeref turned him into the most demon ever just to benefit his personal reasons. He’s responsible for this war, and indirectly responsible for all his friends either dying (almost in most cases) or getting seriously injured that it effects them in the long run. Zeref is an awful person, he’s not a caring brother, he’s evil. Natsu shouldn’t have a sliver of care or love for him. Whatever happened in the past is the past, leave it there. Natsu has his own family now in Fairy Tail and his friends. No reason to change just because you got filled in on the blanks in your memory. Like, Natsu was fine in this chapter as we saw him being is usual slef which I liked seeing. That’s the Natsu I know and the Natsu I want to keep seeing. Maybe the only that can change about his personality is what may happen with Lucy. I don’t want to see Natsu suddenly care for his past, his dead parents who he never knew, or his evil older brother that is causing a war and killing everything in sight. Makes no sense.
Natsu’s parent’s are another thing. They’re irrelevant and have been for a while. Igneel was Natsu parent and had greater impact on him than they did. We knew they were dead. That’s all that should have been said about it. I don’t want him to forget Igneel and start caring for his actual dad who he has no memory of. Don’t build a grave for them, don’t have a flashback and then be all like “My father blah blah blah”. Do you see the point I’m trying to make here? I just don;t want Natsu to become this different character because he has more insight into his life before Fairy Tail. Fairy Tail is his home and his family. All that stuff is over now, he can’t dwell on it. There’s NO way Natsu should have any sympathy for Zeref. Zeref is a shit character in the fact of what he’s done up to this point in the story. Everything bad that has happened to Natsu is directly caused by Zeref. The situation he’s in now is because Zeref got greedy and reincarnated his dead brother into a demon just so it could kill him and break a curse that was put on him. For 510 chapters we have seen Natsu grow and mature in some ways. He’s still the same dragon slayer and I hope he stays that way and doesn’t let all this new information change him. It wouldn’t make sense from a story standpoint, character standpoint, or make it more interesting. I have faith that Mashima won’t write it like that , but we’ll see as we have a long way go till the end.
One more thing I forgot to mention/rant about in my chapter reaction...
“Zeref” completely skipped over Anna and Layla. Pretty sure their contributions to getting the dragon slayers to the future (namely sending them through and receiving them from the Eclipse Gate respectively) is too much of a big detail for him to just not bring up.
Maybe “Sting” will bring it up next chapter...or Mashima is saving this revelation for some sort of future not at all forced Nalu moment. I honestly wouldn’t put it past him at this point.
