In the middle of rewatching Fairy Tail and I just got to Zeref’s introduction and honestly the way it was set up is so fucking funny to me. We hear about Zeref through word of mouth by tons of different people. He’s the most evil, blackhearted wizard in all of recorded history. He’s killed hundreds, if not thousands of people. He’s created demons that have trampled the very earth beneath them. He’s created a legacy so foul that he literally has a cult of people worshipping him and his dark magic. He can’t even take one step without killing every single living thing within the vicinity.
And then we meet him for the first time and he’s the most sad and pathetic wet cat of a man you’ve ever seen. His cringefail aura is insane. All he does is cry and whimper. He’s just a little guy! He’s just a little guy and it’s his birthday and he’s done nothing wrong!!
Zeref posting,, honestly probably my favorite character from fairy tail,, +pink version below the cut
Also, I have made a Twitter for just my fairy tail art and thoughts and stuff, if you wanna give that a follow :3 (I will follow back… I need more FT friends ☝️)
“The Black Wizard” this, “White Zeref” that… what about pink… why not make him pink….
So do you guys ever just obsessively pick apart the filler/b-plot episodes in any given series for random lore, or is that just a me thing?
I ask this because I was thinking about that "Invisible Lucy" episode where the gang has gotten back from a seven year nap on Tenrou Island and Lucy's back in her apartment, so she tries out the potion she made pre-time-skip for 'clear skin', but the thing's just been fermenting for seven years so it's effect has changed and gotten a lot stronger.
Anyway, if the potion hadn't gotten spilled out completely at the end of the episode, do you think it could've been used to slow down Zeref? Like if Lucy had preserved it and kept it around until the Alvarez Arc could they have tossed it on him and literally made their biggest problem disappear for a while? Lucy's potion seemed to take a while to fully take effect and erase her from the world (including her personal possessions), but she had mixed the thing into her bath water so I don't know if it'd be stronger if it were just dumped directly on skin. Zeref could probably figure out a way to circumvent the effects somehow, but it may have bought a bit of time or just confused him. To me, Zeref seems like he wouldn't get distracted easily but if something new or really interesting was just right there he wouldn't be able to help himself from trying to solve how it works.
Can u do a fairy tail one where zeref finds a newborn baby girl in the woods and for some reason she not effected by his death magic and so he raises her and he kinda get like super attached to her cause she can't die from his magic fast forward to like 5 years he raised her amd they meet fairy tail and the group thinks the girl is kidnap by zeref and they kidnap her thinking they were rescuing her but the girl is like 'no! i wanna go back to zeref!' and they're like 'wtf? U wanna go back to man with death magic?' U can decide what to do with the rest
Spriggan Princess ft Zeref
A/N Here we go! I really liked how this one turned our and I an so happy to be making my first fairy tail request.I was worried there wasen’t enough interaction between her and the others but I think it turnedout pretty decent. Took me a minute of thinking to come up with something to make this whole Zeref being able to have a father daughter relationship without killing her or it being too out there but I got it!.
Reader here is replaced by Dokucha which stands for reader in Japanese to ensure the enjoyment of both reader and oc character readers!

Zeref let out a small smile as he rubbed the leaf of the bush between his hands. It had been a while since he had been able to enjoy such a feeling; had it been weeks? No, perhaps it had been it had been years, it could be possible it had been decades. After the first centuries of his immortality time had lost its meaning to him, and he had no reason to try to recover such a concept anymore.
His eyes widened, and a frown overtook his face as a familiar feeling came upon him. The dark force grew stronger and stronger until it materialized and surrounded him, withering everything in its path.
“Not again!” He cried, holding his head and attempting to rein in his curse to no avail; the magic simply kept growing until there was no more life to take. Leaving a broken man behind.
“Just when I thought I could enjoy it just for a moment. Of course, how could I forget, the moment I enjoy it is when it will be taken away from me,” he mumbled dejectedly. He had been so happy to be able to enjoy the life around him that he had forgotten himself.
Before he could continue his thoughts, however, a cry came through; he recognized the sound, the sound of an infant crying. It had been centuries, but he would never forget the sound that his brother once used to make. Regardless, it wasn’t this that shocked him, but the fact that if there was an infant, how had it survived his curse?
Determined to find the meaning behind this, he couldn’t help but approach the sound. As expected, it was a child. He slowly approached them against his better judgment, picking the small girl up in his hands once he had sensed something.
“Nullifying magic, huh?” He mumbled. It would explain how his magic wouldn’t affect an adult or perhaps a child, but an infant was still too unaware and too powerless to use such magic to the extent needed to protect against the Ankhseram curse, not by itself. Looking at the girl further, he noticed what she had been wrapped in, or rather, the material.
“Dragon scales…. The combinations of the scales and your magic protected you from my curse,” he called, amazed, watching as she scrunched up her face before opening her teary eyes, pausing her crying as she spotted him; soft babbles escaping her as she reached towards him.
A tear escaped the dark wizard as he allowed the girl to reach out to him, caressing her cheek. The last time he had been able to touch another human being was when his curse had taken Mavis, but with the magic of the child working alongside the scales, it was unlikely such a fate would await her.
“I see…you are alone too?” He questioned.
“I know what that is like…” he muttered. That day was when Zeref’s life, which had been filled with sorrow, was lightened by the miracle that was Dokucha.
“Dokucha, don’t run too fast, you will fall again,” Zeref called with a smile, watching the five-year-old skip her way through roots and branches. The blanket that once was able to envelop her was now too small, as it instead lay tied tightly around her waist as she ran.
“Don’t worry, Papa!” She giggled as she climbed a nearby tree for a better vantage point, tilting her head at what she spotted in the clearing ahead.
“Papa, I see something!” she announced as she jumped down, dashing towards the clearing only to skid to a stop. Her eyes were wide as she came face to face with two figures, staring at her with an equally agape expression.
“Dokucha, what is it?” Zeref called, stopping next to the girl, quickly spotting what had caught her attention in the first place.
“People? People on this island?,” he questioned.
“Who the hell are you?!” The man yelled
“Only guild members are allowed on this island,” the woman added
“I see. So this place is run by a guild?” he muttered, alarm growing in his face as the man approached Zeref in anger, only to stop as Zeref extended his hand, ordering him to stop.
“Stop! You can’t come near me! I get it, we will leave peacefully, so please don’t even try to come near me,” he pleaded, only to kneel and bend down in pain as he held his head.
“Papa? Papa! Are you okay?” Dokucha yelled as she ran to his side.
“Dokucha…keep your magic up; it’s coming,” he warned as a dark force began to grow around him until eventually it shot in the direction of the wizards who would have made a similar fate to the withering life around them had a pink-haired boy not jumped just in time to save them.
Dokucha stared at the scene unfolding in front of them. The man had introduced himself as Natsu, a name she had become very well acquainted with throughout the stories her father would often tell her before bed. This man was her uncle?
“Who the hell are you?!” Natsu boomed as he shot forward, punching her father back, which snapped her out of her stupor as she shot forward
“Hey! Even if you’re my uncle, I won’t let you hurt my dad!” She cried, activating her magic and sending a nullifying shield forward, pushing the dragon slayer back.
“Tch, I got no idea who you guys are! Say your names!” He growled as he regained his footing.
“Dokucha, don’t,” Zeref called as he landed back on his feet.
“But…Papa!” She began to argue, only to cut herself off as she noticed her father in pain once again.
“Run…” the man warned the fairy tail wizards as another wave of magic began to escape him.
Before she could realize what had happened, her father had scooped her into his arms, fleeing from the scene
“Papa?” She questioned as she looked up at the man.
“It’s time for us to leave this place…it seems it is no longer safe.”
She watched with a frown as he threw himself against a tree, looking down in sorrow as he muttered.
“I am…still being rejected by the world”
Dokucha frowned. She was too young to understand the situation fully, but she knew that when people were near, they were in danger, and whenever someone got hurt, her father would be deeply affected. After all, his curse was to take life when he appreciated it, the mode he loved it more it stole, it was a tragic fate in which the love for life would be punished. With this in mind, she ran towards him, jumped onto his lap, and threw her arms around him in a tight embrace.
“It’s okay, Papa! I know you really love people, and people can’t give you love! I will give you a hundred, no! A hundred thousand times the love to make up for it! ” she exclaimed, extending her hands further and further to demonstrate the amount.
Zeref looked up at the girl in shock before a serene smile broke on his face as he put a hand on her head.
“Thanks, Dokucha…I can count on you,” he mumbled, rubbing her head softly as he gingerly lowered his hand to her cheek, holding her softly. He could always count on his daughter; even if the world rejected him, he at least had her.
It seemed that the fateful meeting between the two brothers was only the beginning, as soon after they had made contact with him, the two had caught wind of another party who had made landfall on the island. However, this one was much less welcomed as their objective was to use Zeref for their own purposes, something that the black wizard did not take kindly to.
“Stay, here, Dokucha. There is something I have to do.”
So he had said, she remembered the tone of his words; he had been enraged at the thought of Grimoire Heart wanting to use him. Shortly after, he confronted the woman from whom he had heard the information. Dokucha watched horrified as the woman beat down his father. She had been quick to dash forward to help him, but a glance from him was enough to halt her approach. With that, she silently followed as he was carried off, watching as various confrontations took place. He was passed from person to person, from the initial woman to a younger pink-haired woman to a wild-looking man, where she was unable to hold herself any longer, she shot forward to rescue her dad, only to be stopped as a blue-haired mage grabbed her.
“You mustn’t get near them! It’s dangerous right now!” She exclaimed as she embraced her carefully
“No! Let go!” she exclaimed, wrestling against the mage. Dokucha was sure that she would have loved this woman in different circumstances. She seemed to be a kind woman, but as she saw it, they were all dangerous and were all after her father.
“No! That man over there is Zeref! The dark wizard is too dangerous. Juvia cannot let you get closer!”
“Shut up! Let go! My dad is not dangerous! You don’t get it!”
“Dad?” Juvia muttered in shock
Taking the chance of her shock, she bit down on the woman’s arm, the last push she needed to escape the woman finally. However, in her minor squabble with her, she had failed to realize the altercation between the pink-haired woman and the man holding her father, and her eyes widened as she noticed the massive wave of dark Fire that headed their way. She barely had time to activate her magic, extending enough to protect the other two women.
Regardless of the situation, her father had always told her how valuable life was, and she was not about to let such a precious thing be wiped away when she could stop it. It seemed that her magic was still too weak to go against such strong magic, and although it was able to protect them from the worst, it eventually was overpowered, throwing the three of them back.
She let out a slight whine, as she brought herself up again, slowly approaching the crazy man again, ignoring the loud argument between him and the young woman.
“Huh? Who the hell are you? Well, no matter, Burn! Uhehehee,” he cackled, gathering his magic once again, only to stop as Zeref began rousing from his sleep, glaring up at the man, as he released his own magic, prompting the small child to gather her magic, protecting the two mages once again.
“Don’t touch my daughter,” he growled, only to realize what had happened, as his face fell.
“I ‘m sorry… a man whose name I don’t know, I ‘ve taken another darkness upon myself.” He mumbled, kneeling down and gently closing the man’s eyes.
“Papa!” Dokucha called, throwing himself onto the man, with small tears in her eyes.
“Dokucha,” he sighed in relief, hugging her in return and raising his gaze to the two women behind her.
“I see you protected them; they are still alive; thank goodness. You did a good job, Dokucha,” he praised softly as he stood up, bringing her with him.
“I have one last thing I need to do, and after that, it is imperative we leave this island. Acnologia is near,” he called as they walked away.
“I do not intend to do anything in this age; I shall be no one’s ally… and no one’s enemy. However, if this age were to come to an end now, then I might act once more.
The following few events were all but a blur as, after arriving in some sort of ship, she was once again asked to stay behind, but noticing her apprehension, he promised to return this time around. And so she waited at the border of the broken vessel, hearing her father conduct his business and watching with shock as a black dragon arrived and eventually sank the island they were previously on; it had been a while before the shock wore off, but eventually
“Papa, are we going back to Alvarez?”
“Yes. This age has ended, and it is time for me to begin a new one,” He replied. With that said, the two once again sat quietly watching the spot where the island lay get farther and farther away until eventually Zeref broke the silence.
“Let’s get going, Princess Spriggan,” he called as he walked further into the ship. Despite the situation, he couldn’t help but tease the girl, if only to escape what they had just witnessed. He needed a way to relieve the pain he was feeling after losing Natsu.
“Don’t call me that!” She protested, flushed, following after the dark wizard.
“Hm? How come? You are my little princess after all,” he replied with a teasing smile.
