I know y’all didn’t ask for it, so I won’t be giving you the full ‘how my friend ruined Corpse Party’, but I still want to share his conspiracy theories so:
Conspiracy Theory 1: Tsukasa was dead during Encounter
Phillip theorised that throughout the chapter ‘Encounter’, Tsukasa Mikuni was actually the spirit of a teenage boy who had died at Kisaragi Academy some time before. Specifically, after Yui’s friends told her that someone must have experienced ‘Yoshie After School’, Phillip stated that that someone was Tsukasa. He is the reason the legend is known, as he encountered Yoshie in Kisaragi after 7, left some kind of record of his experiences behind about how scary it was and ultimately died as a result of this experience. His spirit, like that of Makina, is trying to protect Yui, and perhaps while in the school with her was very much reliving his experiences against Yoshie the exact way they’d happened before - perhaps at the time he had been with someone else who had survived and told everyone what happened, but unlike Yui, this someone else ran when Tsukasa distracted Yoshie, and thus Yoshie caught and killed him - maybe she was the one who spread rumours about the curse as a result of Tsukasa’s death. Plot twist she was accused of Tsukasa’s murder. He said it was possible Tsukasa himself was not aware he was dead. Phillip later tried to support his theory with the fact that up until that point, only Yui had directly interacted with Tsukasa or even mentioned him, but very shortly after that, the school nurse at Kisaragi interacted with/mentioned him.
Conspiracy Theory 2: Kizami was dead during Mire
When Yuka stated that Kizami’s skin was cold to the touch, ‘like he was already dead’, Phillip immediately blurted that Kizami was already dead. He theorised this time that between killing Mitsuki and returning to the room where he had tied up Yuka, Kizami had met an untimely end. His vengeful and psychotic spirit was still walking around and continuing his wish to straight up murder Yuka. After all, the curse of the school allowed Naho’s ghost to have a physical effect on things, so why not Yuuya too? In a way, this can actually make sense, as he is hinted to have a very physical form after death anyway (as shown in Tortured Souls, Blood Drive and 2U - the anatomical model). This is just before he’s been half-skinned. We even tried to relate the sudden and intense headache to the ‘he’s dead’ thing, saying that maybe it was to do with the darkening and the murder school’s maddening influence (Dewey wouldn’t shut up about how Heavenly Host actively drives you insane during Shangri-La and Tooth) or could have even been the pain from his death, since those who die in Heavenly Host feel the pain of death for all eternity. Though let’s be honest, those first two would still stand if he were still alive.
Conspiracy Theory 3: Kai-sper the Friendly Ghost Or Shimada had some degree of dormant spiritual ability in Tooth
There were two parts to this one. Part one, which was actually started by Dewey, who was playing the game, was when the Byakudan kids found the infirmary. We weren’t sure about Kai yet, and when he locked the door like ‘what if there’s a monster in there?’ Dewey immediately yelled ‘he sensed something’. So Phillip, springboarding off that, headcanoned that Kai had dormant spiritual sense or ability (though he used different wording) that told him the infirmary was an even bigger nope than the rest of the school. So basically, he sensed the infirmary was very dangerous, and figured the best way to protect himself and all the others was to lock the door and take the key so no-one else could let whatever was in there out, but couldn’t really explain his feeling of intense nope any better than he did. It only occurred to me recently that a feeling of intense nope made sense, considering that’s where Yoshie’s spirit resides as a murderous black smoke, something Phillip definitely didn’t know at the time but the rest of us did. So what if Yoshie was the thing Kai sensed?
Part two of this theory, the part where the ‘ghost’ thing really becomes significant, is after Shimada is dead. When Tohko is running from Yuuya, she trips on the stairs and finds the infirmary key. Since Kai lost it earlier and nobody could see it again, Phillip theorised that Shimada’s ghost had shown it to Tohko to protect her. Whether it be by tripping her so she would fall near the key or moving the key when she fell so she would find it, his ghost did something. He even backed this up by saying ‘well if Naho can have a physical body as a ghost, and that other ghost can break Fukuroi’s neck and send him to the bomb shelter, why can’t Shimada throw a key at Kirisaki’s head?’, basically using the spiritual ability idea from before. Phillip figured that Ghost Shimada knew that even if the infirmary was dangerous, it would be the only place she would be safe from Kizami.
Dewey told him to shut up and stop being stupid ‘because no’.
