marlene is that friend that constantly is sending her friends dumb pictures, wanting to facetime or rant or even something as silly as “saw a worm.” she also has made multiple group chats for their friends. there is a girls only chat, one with the entire marauders, she definitely has one with just james, lily, sirius and her. she also sends lily very all of the things she’s afraid to say aloud, because she knows lily will be there. she can go from talking about some joke, to the trauma they’ve all gone through, to a joke again faster than most people can read her texts. she enjoys talking to her friends as much as she can now that they have such a convenient way of communicating.

how often do they text ?

lily and marlene’s phone history is super complicated, let’s be real. when they both were aware, it definitely was constant, having lily in several group chats as well as their own conversation. but then lily was unaware for so long and marlene tried her best to keep the other as close as she could, and often their texts would carry them into the night as marlene pretended to be stumped about an essay or anything she could think of. and now with marlene unaware, she definitely still texts lily, just not as often. quick notes between them to meet up for coffee and all. but lily is definitely still at the top of her contacts, one of the only ones she didn’t delete.

marlene, if you had been alive on that halloween, would you have gone to prevent james and lily's death or gone to prevent sirius from being arrested?

out of everything else, marlene had given this scenario the most thought. she had thrown it around in her mind every night as she tossed and turned. ever since she found out the fates of her friends, she wondered just what she could have done to prevent it. and deep down, marlene knew there was only one thing she couldn’t have prevented. lily and james had been marked for death. no amount of her intervening would have changed that. she would have done everything in her power to save the potters, always would. it was why she had died in the first place, to keep them safe. to die with the secret of their location. even though she never even knew it. but marlene, and the rest of them knew, when voldemort decided to kill, there was no stopping him. he had decided the fates of the potters, and marlene could do nothing to change that but fall with them. that thought haunted her. it kept her awake at night, knowing she had failed her friends and would only do so still even if she had lived. but she knew she could have made a difference with sirius. they both knew the potters would make sure harry was safe. but she could have been there with sirius, going after the rat responsible for them losing two of the brightest flames in the world. she could have helped stop him before he turned into a rat, maybe tried to save those muggles. she could have been a witness for him. proven his innocence so they could have saved harry for the upbringing he had. had she been beside sirius, they could have changed harry’s future. and yet, she fell. she would never have made another difference. her death was for nothing in the end and it was something that would forever mark marlene’s mind.  ( @graveycrds | @irresistiibles | @dcpravities )

he’d only really seen his grandmother a couple of times here so far, never really having had the chance to get to know her properly with everything going on. so when he spotted her, james lifted his hand in a wave, giving an awkward but polite smile before standing up and crossing over to see her. “so... awkward question, but it’s probably better to just get it out of the way” he began, “what do i call you? some variation of grandmother or just lily?”

atlas was enjoying the party, after a few hours - things had simultaneously gone wild and calmed down depending on what light you saw it in. everyone had begun to lose their inhibitions, worries fading away as the drinks were slammed back. so, while atlas wouldn’t necessarily be chatting with someone that he had barely known in his timeline, he had no qualms about doing so now. “lily evans, beautiful as ever. or maybe not, i never saw you in the other timeline. maybe you were radiant, glowing like a goddess.” snapping out of his ramble, he turned back to her a poor attempt at a charming smile. “anyways, how are you holding up?”
