haiiii i am here to pitch chipspeech

do u like vocaloid? utau? similar software? are you bored of how human they sound? there's a possibility you might like chipspeech. it's a plugin that uses vintage voices and each one has a character attached to it with personality and attributes based on the voice (i'm two characters from it, dandy 704 and dee klatt, who are representative of the ibm 704 and dectalk respectively. but there are more voices than just those.)

there's also "lore" but i say this in quotes because most of it isn't on the software website and was told through twitter roleplay that hasn't been updated since like 2021 but i digress. this means that many creations are very character driven. also, we have canon queer rep if that interests you at all. every character namedropped in this pitch is lgbtq+ in some way isn't that awesome :3

mega man is an incredibly extensive franchise! did you know there's not only games (for so many console generations!!), but also an anime (several animated series i believe??), numerous comics, and spin-off games in different genres, including a turn-based rpg? (mega man x: mission command) mod did not know, but wow! and these designs are so cool!! there's such a range of interesting robot designs, both humanoid and not, frankly its awesome!

Do you like robots? Do you like war? Do you like robot war? Do you like robot war…in space? And most importantly, do you at least accept the existences of psychic fuckery and accidental homosexuality?

… Well then. Mobile Suit Gundam might be for you! At least if you kinda don’t mind watching half-century old anime, that is. The highly influential and probably acclaimed 1979 anime directed by Yoshiyuki Tomino kicked off an entire franchise with like endless variations and continuities, and to this day is basically Japanese Star Wars, probably, I’m kinda dumb. Also the toys make fucking bank! But at first they didnt, most the people who actually watched the show back when it first came out were fujoshis (no shade. so am i.) and otherwise probably not the intended audience. 😌

It’s basically about a one year long war (that is, quite suprisingly, called the one year war :0) between the Earth Federation and Zeon, and basically it screws literally everyone ever over. It takes place on both Earth sometimes AND mostly in a shit ton of space colonies. And basically the actual plot is kicked off when a little 15 year old boy by the name of Amuro Ray (ay kay ay Me, who is writing this) just so happens to get in the robot that his father made, which just so happens to be called the Gundam, and accidentally joins the fucking military along with a bunch of people who mostly also don’t really wanna be here but they deal with it a lot better than I did for the most part. And that little 15 year old boy and his gang (which also is Not MY gang by the way I just happen to pilot the most powerful thing basically anyone has, also people try to kick me out multiple times and I kick myself out even for like 5 days and I’m back 🫡) have to go around kicking space Nazi ass for a year because war bad and war sad. No spoilers, also I am terrible at explaining plots, but basically chaos ensues, drama ensues, trauma ensues, mass murder ensues, yaoi ensues, death ensues, psychic power ensues, and literally everything that could be ensued, ensues. Psh pow bang bang pshhhh booooom pow pow psh. Robot murder. Moral of the story: war is bad, wait no war is actually REALLY bad, people get PTSD sometimes, sometimes cool robot isn’t that cool, being in space a lot gives you magic powers, we can make fucking bank off of this, and don’t kill your girlfriend.

Anyway. Sorry for my really bad plot summary, use Google at your discretion for more information. But also I’d like to add if you’re into Neon Genesis Evangelion you might like it. Don’t even be like “but I like it for the Characters and Psychology not the ROBOTS and Gundam is ROBOTS. 🤬🤬” (I SWEAR this is not an insult I am literally an Evangelion fan I’m Joking.) Fear not, it also has trippy mindfuckery sometimes, strange budget issues, a reluctant teenage boy protagonist, parental issues, the killing of a love interest, mass destruction, government shit, boobs, and fun family time! Also if you have any interest in older anime and don’t care about “ohmahgah the thingy is slightly off model! 🥺😢😭” all that much! (I am making Jokes about literally Everything this isn’t supposed to be mean I’m sorry sometimes I think things look weird too so I think it’s okay. ☹️) because fun fact, the fucking ANIMATION DIRECTOR was IN THE HOSPITAL half the time! It’s still really pretty though I swear. And if you have any interest in space or military or combinations of the two it’s fun. And sexy blonds!

You can watch the thing on idk Crunchyroll, or through alternative methods. 😇 And you USED to be able to watch the MOVIE version on Netflix but theyre a little bitch and took all UC content off their service which makes me really sad. Oh also I forgot to mention! If you don’t feel like watching all 43 episodes theres 3 movies that basically sum up the thing by like taking out all the not that important stuff and also its kinda reanimated sometimes so thats really cool.

let mod just say, aside from all the war, this source is also visually stunning in terms of its setting?

mod could not easily find screenshots of the setting in the anime via wiki, however mod did find some lovely concept and background art from the production of mobile suit gundam via gundamunofficial! artist for these is nakamura mitsuki.
