#Repost @its.going.down (@get_repost) ・・・ “I’ve been struggling all my life to get beyond the choice of living on my knees or dying on my fight. It’s time we lived on our feet”. Speaking of CA prisoners, we recommend reading the book “BAD: the autobiography of James Carr”. James Carr was a close friend of George Jackson in prison, and upon his release immediately joined up with the Black Panther Party. He eventually left the party, increasingly influenced by the Situationists and anarchism, and frustrated by the top down structure of the BPP. The book is controversial for his candid portrayal of the brutality of prison life, having been in and out of institutions since he was 9 years old. Carr talks openly about violence he committed towards other prisoners and that was committed towards him, and clearly illustrates how all of it was encouraged by prison authorities as a form of control within the institutions. Shortly after he sent the first draft of the manuscript of his book, James was murdered in an unsolved case. #fttpfriday #jamescarr #blackpantherparty #soledadbrothers #georgejackson #firetotheprisons
