ok i agree in principle but if cave johnson asked me for $7 i could be down for microtransactions
“Wait. You’re not just gonna use this to buy more moon rocks, are you?”
“Nope. Your generous donation goes straight into the Let’s Make A New Body For The Digitized Essence Of Cave Johnson; Preferably One With Arms And A Mouth With Teeth So He Can Eat A Donut Again; Which You’re Also Funding With Your $7 fund. It’s for a better future. For me, anyway. And to a lesser extent, those old ladies at the supermarket who make the donuts.”

Isn't that always the thing you really like? You want there to be more but at the same time you're afraid it just won't have the same spark as the original?
Alas, it’s true! But I will say that I was pleasantly surprised with the relatively recent Portal 2/Enrichment Center levels in Lego Dimensions--from what I saw, it’s a really cute tribute to the game’s universe and it’s quirks (rather than being an attempt to expand on the story/lore or anything like that). Preposterously silly, sure, but it was well done (I thought so anyway). And yeah, I guess it counts as paid DLC but you also get Legos! I don’t even own the game but I up and bought the Portal set anyway, it’s adorable.
To be honest, from the POV of a fanfic writer, I’m kind of glad that the story has come to a stopping point (for now anyway), because it gives you something to work with without worrying that your hard work will be totally contradicted or that they’ll suddenly up and do something horrible to your favorite characters. That kind of stress is Real. x.x
