Everytime I smell wood burning, it brings me back. Brings me back to the night that me and my family almost, nearly lost our lives. My god, the flames that night was almost hell like. All my grandad and nan’s stuff burned to the ground. Everything. Next doors car was on fire, our shed alight. Fence gone. Memories burned to the ground. The table that my nan made that sat in my mums room, laid on the wall of my neighbours wall the next day, burned into something that just looked like a round piece of wood. I sat in the green opposite crying my eyes out. “Everything of grandads gone. Nothing left” The trauma is still every real. All because a bunch of kids thought fire was fun. The smell of smoke, reminds me of that night. The night we almost lost our lives.
