Being an artist (for me) means a lot of scrolling through the art tag on tumblr, and getting discouraged because everything is ‘So much better’ than my stuff. Or watching animatics on youtube for literal days on end. And looking at art that is, in every possible way, superior to my own.

BUT!!

It also means just messing around with my program, drawing little things that I happen to adore, and finally producing something I’m proud of. There are some people I know (whom I love dearly) that would look at an ass I drew and call me the best artist in the world. I’ve drawn shitposts. I’ve drawn things that will never see the light of day. I’ve drawn things I hate. I’ve drawn things I’ll never finish. And I’ve also drawn things that I share. I look at the finished project. Damn, I hate that thing. And then I post it. And it gets likes, or complements from the 80-some people who live with me in a hell-ish discord server (Shout out to you gays, y’all are valid). And I draw some more. And I hate it slightly less. Then it’s the same cycle.

My point is (for someone who is writing this on negative seven hours of sleep), if you want to draw, draw. You’ll probably hate your work at first, but don’t let that stop you. Draw some more. Trust me, you will improve.
