what people think aspd boredom is:
what aspd boredom really is:
So here’s where we are and why I believe we have a bigger problem than bad fandom etiquette.
The fundamental issue is that the most extreme of the destihellers are not “shippers” - i’m talking about the very small percentage that are fully locked in and 100% believe the ship is real in canon and want to ask questions about the canon of it at cons and don’t understand why they can’t ask. It makes them feel persecuted, it makes them feel the people that are trying to stop them asking about a genuine queer pairing (in their minds) are homophobic. That the people denying it’s real are homophobic. For them it’s as real and factual as the sky being blue and the grass being green. They are absolutely going to lose their mind at anyone who says otherwise because you’re taking their foundation away and they are just going to get defensive and push harder to get back on solid ground, to hold on tighter to that delusion, that for whatever reason and whatever coping mechanism they’ve latched onto makes them feel safe. They genuinely see it is real and that’s why they take extreme offence at their real canon queer pairing being compared to a fictional fanon ship - an incest one at that.
And the reason we are in this mess in the first place is because someone - queerbaiter mcbackstabber - thought it “harmless” to give validation to it, “you aren’t crazy, it’s real”. And in psychology, this is THE absolute worst thing you can do to people that have real delusions (not people that are having fun and know it’s a fantasy but people who believe 100% it’s real) is to validate those beliefs. He knew it wasn’t real, he knew it wasn’t being discussed in the writers’ room, he knew it wasn’t ever going to become reality but he gave validation to those beliefs anyway and continues to do so and worse, he’s feeding delusions about Dean too.
People like Rich and Rob have compounded it, “oh we see it now”, 🙄 No, what they see is the potential of it, they see why normal shippers might explore it in fanon because we ALL see that, we all see the potential in any ship and that’s what shipping is about. We still know it’s fanon and not real and it’s fun. But to these “extreme believers” I’ll call them, again it’s more validation for what they believe is real and everyone else saying otherwise are homophobes persecuting them.
We simply aren’t dealing with badly behaved rogue shippers that just don’t understand fandom etiquette (many are undeniably but they are just shitty people jumping on the bandwagon to get what they want at any cost), it’s much worse than that. That’s why this isn’t going to end, unless as I said on my previous post that the person that fed into this starts realising this isn’t “harmless” fun and starts being honest and backtracks on all the things he’s said and done that feed these very real delusions.
As i said this is a very, very small percentage of that fandom, the rest are just selfish and don’t care about anyone but themselves and their fetish so this is in no way excusing those a/h shippers.
Anyway, here’s a summary on it for anyone interested in learning more. It deals with delusions like thinking you are being followed but the principles are the same for any delusion.
