As much as I like to ignore Chimera for (Pete) reasons, I think there is a throwaway line when they walk into the retirement home/anniversary party (? I really try to ignore this episode).

When Pete does the big reveal and says something like “it’s nice to see that some people still stay together forever.”

And it almost implies that Sam said something to him about how she didn’t want to make a commitment because marriage doesn’t last? But I just have to wonder where that would come from in her past if that was the case.

Help. Any better theories? I’m really not into writing Sam/Pete missing date fics, but I’m just curious.

How we’re introduced to Pete in his first scene is indicative of his entire relationship with Sam

We are first introduced to him when he pretends to creepily hit on Sam. If I was going to introduce a viable love interest to someone in a series, this is one of the LAST ways I would do it. Immediately after, he pushes her to skip work and makes fun of her job.

The rest of the episode only expands on the ways in which Pete does not respect Sam, especially her work. But the fact that this scene is so telling makes me wonder if the writers did it on purpose or if they’re just incompetent at writing love interests for women.

Urgh... I've encountered a Pete episode. The first fucking Pete episode, when he gate- crashes a top secret mission and endangers Sam's life.
