Stargate SG-1 29th anniversary celebration
On July 27, twenty-nine years ago, Stargate SG-1 premiered its very first episode. Since then, this most beloved of shows has given us two hundred and fourteen episodes that have run the gamut of thrilling, maddening, intriguing, heartbreaking, hilarious… There’s a little something for everyone, so right now our question is—
Which are your favorites?
Although the actual anniversary isn't until next month, due to having too many anniversaries that month, we're celebrating now! To do so, we’ll be streaming three episodes—the most popular ones, as decided by you! This week will be for receiving your nominations for favorite episodes, and then we will poll the most-nominated titles to determine the server’s Top 3 SG-1 Episodes.
Head on over to the Discord to submit your votes and to watch when the time comes!

The Danish training ship “Georg Stage” (1934) dresses in rainbow colour, 2021
not the kind of gay ship I’m used to seeing on tumblr but cool
ship georg is an outlier but SHOULD be counted

5 Tiny Writing Tips That Aren’t Talked About Enough (but work for me)
These are some lowkey underrated tips I’ve seen floating around writing communities — the kind that don’t get flashy attention but seriously changed how I write.
1. Put “he/she/they” at the start of the sentence less often.
Try switching up your sentence rhythm. Instead of
“She walked to the window,”
try
“The window creaked open under her touch.”
Keeps it fresh and stops the paragraph from sounding like a checklist.
2. Don’t describe everything — describe what matters.
Instead of listing every detail in a room, pick 2–3 objects that say something.
“A half-drunk mug of tea and a knife on the table”
sets a way stronger tone than
“There was a wooden table, two chairs, and a shelf.”
3. Use beats instead of dialogue tags sometimes.
Instead of:
"I'm fine," she said.
Try:
"I'm fine." She wiped her hands on her skirt.
It helps shows emotion, and movement.
4. Write your first draft like no one will ever read it.
No pressure. No perfection. Just vibes. The point of draft one is to exist. Let it be messy and weird — future you will thank you for at least something to edit.
5. When stuck, ask: “What’s the most fun thing that could happen next?”
Not logical. Not realistic. FUN. It doesn’t have to stay — but chasing excitement can blast through writer’s block and give you ideas you actually want to write.
What’s a tip that unexpectedly helped with your writing? Let me know!! 🍒
the most essential part of a fandom are those people who immediately tell you to write it, draw it, make it when you share your ideas, you have no idea how many fanworks are born just because someone encouraged it

Made these about a month ago, figured other spoonies might want to use them
It always amazes me how different these 3 women are. When I’m watching Stargate I don’t feel like I’m watching Amanda Tapping or Helen Magnus. I’m watching Samantha Carter. Same goes with Sanctuary. I’m watching Helen Magnus, not Amanda or Sam. And then when I watch interviews and conventions I’m watching Amanda Tapping. Not one of her characters. That’s one of the things I really love about Amanda. That and all her other flawlessness…
Totally agree! Amanda’s acting is absolutely incredible. It’s not just the change of hair colour or accent either. It’s in the simple way she holds herself, the way she cocks her head, the way she stares at you. Everything is so different it’s like watching 3 different women.
And then there’s the fact that as both Sam (Grace, Gemini (even Repli!Carter is totally different), In the Line of Duty, Entity etc) and Helen (Requiem, Out of the Blue, Tempus(!!!), etc) she just acts her ass off and gives these breathtaking performances that grip at your heart and show soooo much emotion with the slightest effort and feel so, so real even when she’s fighting abnormals or aliens or herself.
I might have started another rewatch today…
I’m thinking about it again…
… it has begun
