Sam and Jack don’t talk. They communicate in other ways. If you’re looking for long, sappy declarations of love this isn’t it, and I also don’t think it’s them. Based on the premise that they have to develop other ways to communicate than words.
These are my definitive SG-1 Sam/Jack works that establish my belief of how things went for them canonically during S 1-8. It is missing scenes and additional development of their relationship that we don’t see on screen. Fairly free of the same old things you’ve read for the past 25 years, I hope. M version is just a little extra spicy, but you don’t miss anything plot wise by skipping the spice.
This should be very in character and also in voice. My goal is for you to feel like you’re reading deleted canonical scenes. Great companion to a rewatch, and each chapter is labeled with corresponding episodes. Lots of canonical angst, support, friendship, professional camaraderie and respect, and obvs slow burn HEA.
While foundational to my own head canons, neither this nor anything else on this list should be a pre-requisite to any other work at this time. If some do develop into their own universes, they will be consolidated into a series.
WIP - The Others:
Exploration of Dr. Sam Carter’s (from Point of View) life after she returns to her own reality. Another alternate Jack finds her, and they help each other grieve and heal. Eventual HEA, with a respectful amount of time to grieve their respective losses. Heavy on angst.
Complete - Something Other Than Quarks:
AU: Wacky fake marriage fic that is just pure fun and hopefully hilarity. Whatever you do, don’t take this one seriously. It’s a feel good romp.
Complete - Fishing In The Dark:
My red-headed step-child post threads fic that I leave up because some people like it. 😂 I didn’t really know what I was doing, and I tried to write it smutty. Turns out that just isn’t my thing. Post-Threads cabin fic. HEA
Complete? - He Had His Reasons:
AU: Born of a prompt that Pete dumps Sam at or around The Lost City. A short-ish HEA at the beginning of Season 8 that will likely get some follow-up because I want to.
Complete - October:
October is Jack’s favorite month. Post-series established Sam/Jack. Started as a musing about all the Sam reasons why October is his favorite month and got a little extra treatment on each of those reasons with a series of sickly sweet vignettes.
Complete? - Flirting With Disaster:
AU: What would have happened if Sam had made up her mind to be a little reckless at the end of season 1? She’s already defied Hammond’s orders and gone through the Gate to Apophis’s ship to save Earth? What’s one more indiscretion?
SG-1 Prompts Series:
WIP but mostly one-shots. These are not in any particular order. Mostly Sam/Jack, but not all. Easy to enjoy a couple during your lunch break which, incidentally, is when most of them are written. 🙃
Complete - You Haven’t Said ‘No’
Bittersweet Post-Threads get together. Sam/Jack talk by not talking and say goodbye to Jacob. HEA
