The room was dim, the only light was from the moon peeking through the small cracks of the curtains. Small snores could be heard from the man next to you, his chest moving up and down with a peaceful look on his face.
Fuegoleon had been having frequent night terrors after he woke up from his coma, the day he lost his arm tormented him in his sleep. You stayed on a light sleep schedule due to this, waiting for the moment he body moved in a jolting manner so you can comfort his distressed state. Of course, he felt guilty and offered to sleep in a different room, he thought you didn’t need to deal with his constant night terrors.
You felt the ferocious tossing and turning of your husband, waking you up to be on stand by. The sound of a sudden scream and a body flinging to sit up caused you to sit up as well, immediately embracing him in your warm hug. “It’s alright, you’re fine.” You cooed quietly, running your hand through his soft hair, scratching along his scalp to calm him.
“I-I’m sorry, Y/n...” Fuegoleon said, trying to get a grip on his erratic breathing. “You need sleep, I keep waking you with my folly.” He said, leaning into the embrace with a sad and defeated sigh. He cared a lot about his s/o, just them staying with him even though he lost an arm meant to world to him.
“No, nonsense. I’m staying with you through all this.” You said, smiling a bit as he rested his head in the crook of your neck. The smile turned into a frown of worry as you felt his shoulders shake, the pillar starting to crumble right in front of you. The usually calm and collected captain finally broke, his sobs of loss echoed throughout the room.
“Shh, you’re safe. I won’t let you go.” You whispered lovingly, rubbing his back as he wrapped his one arm around your waist and pressed a salty kiss to your lips. “I love you, more than you’ll ever know.” You said, caressing his cheek, wiping his tears away.
“I love you, too.” Fuegoleon sighed, resting his forehead against yours with a small smile. “I love you, no words can describe the love I feel for you.” He said, slowly leading you to lay back down. “Goodnight, dear.” He said, wrapping his arm around you protectively. “Goodnight.” You replied, going back into your light sleep.
