Plucking tea leaves below Mt. Fuji by PeterThoeny Towards the end of our Japan trip we had the opportunity to take photos at a big tea plantation and tea production near Fuji City and Mt. Fuji. The operation is big and automated. CEO Honda also preserve the tradition of crafting tea by hand, which results in a different taste. In the morning they hand-plucked 1.2 kg of tea leafs. Then they steam it for 40 sec in a wooden bamboo basket, followed by hand-rolling the leaves for 5 hours over a slightly warm washi plate. Which version is a better fit for this image? I processed a balanced and a paintery HDR photo from two RAW exposures, blended them selectively, and carefully adjusted the color balance and curves.
