Botober day 29 - Cinder Frankenstein
I drew the creature with my left and right hand at the same time. Partially not looking. Then I used paint and ink to finish it (with just my dominant hand, lol).

So far my right arm (the one with the flu shot) is WAY more sore than my left (covid shot)

If our love died, would that be the worst thing?
For somebody I thought was my saviour
You sure make me do a whole lot of labour”✨

Okay so, I've thought of a new experiment to try, and it's not food related this one time. I expect when I move out to my cob house, I won't have electricity, which of course, means no gadgets or phone, but it also means, no light bulbs. I already know I can do without internet, laptop or a phone, but I have never had to live without any light source after it gets dark outside.
Anticipating this, I've bought a small solar light bulb, to test it out, and it's working, well, poorly. It's not very shiny, the power of light from it equals 3 little twinkle lights, and it dies out easily. It was really cheap and possibly it's just not a good resource. But, it does provide some light.
Now you must be thinking, but what about candles? The humanity had used candles to light up their homes even centuries ago! Well, since I don't plan to buy candles, or fuel for oil lamps, I would have to be a beekeeper to get the wax to make some, or figure out some fancy way to make it from nature on my own, and, I don't think it will be a priority. So for starters, I can expect to be in the dark, except for my barely working solar bulb, which does not last long.
So what will it be like to live without any artificial light? I've thought about it, and I think, if I build a fireplace with little glass see-thru windows or doors, I will almost always have some light in the winter, the fire really can serve purposes of cooking, warmth, and light all at the same time. In the summer, it's light outside until 9-10pm, which is when I usually want to go to sleep anyway, because I want to be awake at 5-6am to tend to the garden before it gets hot.
So the hardest times will be in the spring, after it's warm enough to go on without a fire, and fall, when it's not cold enough to light a fire, and sun runs out before 7pm. So it is the perfect season to try this out. My plan is to live out a few days, at least two or three, as if the artificial light doesn't exist. I'm not trying to live without technology, so it will be okay to use my laptop and phone during the day, however, after it's dark outside, no light-providing gadget is allowed, except for the solar bulb, which can work just as well in the nature. One issue I will have to deal with, is the street lamp light, which is actually so bright in the night I can usually see my apartment just fine without even turning on the light. So, to mediate this, I'll have to pull down the shades, and go for complete pitch black environment.
My last obstacle are roommates, so only thing I'm waiting for is a holiday for them to spend with their families, and then I can go live out my darkness dreams. I'm actually excited, because I love pitch black darkness, I love doing experiments, and I want to check if the lack of light will inspire me to sleep more, and to sleep longer. I remember reading about an experiment of people sleeping as if the artificial light didn't exist, and going back to the original sleeping phase, 4 hours of sleep, 1 hour of being awake, then 4 hours of sleep again. I don't think I can trigger it in 3 days tho, it tooks months for them to make it.
So the rules of the experiments are set, and I'm just waiting to have the place to myself. I'll keep you updated once it starts. Let me know if you know an alternative way to create long-lasting light from the nature, and no it may not include trapping fireflies in a jar.
So I saw a thing by @dar-draws.
Then I thought about @tamagocchiheaven‘s fanbaby.
And, well...the rest is history, with a few minor changes.
