Fun Fax: OLM Chap 19

lmaooooo i JUST realized that i never posted this after i published chapter 19, probably because i felt it needed updating. seeing as this chapter went up nearly a year ago, i have no further commentary, so please read this as if it were posted right after chap 19 went up lol

initially started this chapter before i had to really get hustling about moving, so i didn’t get to work on it again for like 1.5 months after starting 😭 might have been what i needed tho, cause this chapter came fairly smoothly and was very fun once i got back to it

gotta say, writing characters who ARENT Lee, Kaz, or Jin is actually really refreshing? challenging of course, as ive never tried writing anyone besides those 3 and Lars, but like Jin said, a fun change of pace! i love writing Paul, he was my fave this chapter behind Jin lol

alright i said that i wasnt pulling from any Tekken media besides the main games and Bloodline, but with this chapter i realize i’m KINDA pulling from a bit from the Tekken online webcomic? with Paul remarking how much Jin resembles Kazuya, but in this case, missing the obvious as to why lol. (i swear i saw this in a manga panel from a tekken 3 manga adaption as well? but that was the only panel i saw - if you know what this manga is, please let me know!!)

i drink my respect Paul juice, but i also have to contend with the fact that he’s not the brightest 😭 was scared abt making him too dumb, when i really love how he was handled in Bloodline, so i hope i hit a good balance. his second convo with Jin was KILLING me as i wrote it lol

yes, another line lifted right from the Incredibles with Lee yelling "THIS IS NOT ABOUT YOU!!" lol. LOVED having Lee deck Kazuya, they both deserve it! the snippet that encompassed most of that scene was literally called “lee freaking decks him” until this chapter finally got pieced together lol

the Lee and Kazuya fight was originally slated for NEXT chapter, which put quite a wrench in my plans for that one when i realized it needed to be moved...

overall, this arc gave me SO MUCH ISSUE when i was ramping up to write it, individual events just weren’t coming to me clearly. i know where i need to BE and how we’re thinking by the end, but paving the way was difficult. but as im sure you’re all expecting, it’s gonna be a real fun doozy :)

He sighed. "It came in from a collapsed private military corp running surveillance for the polar research teams. Routine patrolling, they barely saw any action. All the remaining shrikes were sold off whole, but their one dreadnought got chopped up for auction." Creche paused. "A 201 Xifeng."

He saw my mouth fall open in outrage and raised his hands placatingly. "It didn't run any missions! I pulled surveillance to make sure of that. They only kept it as a deterrent."

"Did you come over specifically to waste my time?"

"I knew you wouldn't like it, but-"

"If it was in a galeform that's ever had power, it's twisted. That's how those things work!"

"Look, it's completely clean. Recovery certified it zero frac." But he looked uncomfortable as he said it. "You're seriously not going to get better than this. I've asked around, there's not a single unit out there that's not severely fracced or still in use."

Creche limped over to the door. "'Eight dima for the actuator, or I'll give you eighty-three for your whole rig. Let me know."

Then he was gone, leaving me to stew. What a heap of bullshit.

Fun Fact: Believe It Or Not, Samantha's 1st Time Being In Touch With Any Form Of Sharp Objects Was Back In Elementary School, When She Snuck A Pocket Knife With Her So She Could Threaten Brittany For Bullying Her And Show Brittany What She's Truly Made Of. One Student Ended Up Rapporting Her After They Saw The Knife, And Samantha's Parents Were Called And Showed Up Later That Day. And Samantha Immediatly Explained That Brittany's Brat Behaviour Drove Her To Bringing It. Therefore, The Principal Is Then Looking Into The Situation And Left Samantha Off With A Warning, And Her Parents Were Now Extra Careful Of Leaving Sharp Object Lying Around.
