Well, that was cute. I managed to overbalance AGAIN while distracted and popping a little wheelie to back out over the little wetroom-bathroom threshold.
Went over backwards, which was annoying but OK since I didn't crack my head on the floor or anything. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (My back may not be too happy with me in a while, of course.)
But, once I got out of stunned fish mode sufficiently to climb my klutzy ass back up in into the chair? My hand went straight into a surprise puddle of clear liquid in the hall floor.
My first inevitable thought:
But, not this time! It smelled fruity?
Yep, I tipped straight over onto the plummetting blood sugar reserve drink box in my backpack. Which proceeded to bust open at a seam.
(For whatever reason, you don't find many just straight small juice boxes here? 🤔 It's pretty much all juice drinks, with like 15-20% real juice, or else small Tetra Paks of actual juice concentrate to mix up. Honestly feels like a bit of a ripoff, but it works for my purposes anyway.)
At least there wasn't anything else currently in there that might be easily damaged by getting wet, is all I can say. That's the same easy-access outer pocket where I stow power banks, etc. And it could have been chocolate milk instead, because yeah I carry that sometimes for a change.
Could have done without the cleanup, but that part could easily have been much worse too. Floor mess duly toweled up, and waiting to see if the bag itself dries sticky enough to need a trip through the washing machine.
Aggretsuko Christmas Special
Just a real quick post with some interesting words in the Aggretsuko Christmas Special, which I finally watched!
シズル感;しずるかん;sizzle (usu. in advertising); dazzle; (a) kicker
ノーパソ (abbreviation of ノートパソコン);laptop
ふらっと;aimlessly; by chance; accidentally; casually; suddenly; unexpectedly
plus this translation of ‘kareshi’
Bonus word that didn’t appear in the episode:
インスタ映え;いんすたばえ;being instagrammable; looking good on Instagram
Since it would be romanized as Insta-bae, it always made me think of ‘bae’.
My cat leaves while I’m petting her: rude.
A pokemon pops out of its pokeball: rude.
I lose balance and fall over: rude.

So, glancing at notifications, I just managed to mentally parse this as "Brexit Megadeth"!
Which might make the recommended topic more interesting--or at least slightly less infuriating-but... 🙄]
[Commenting on: Screenshot of a Reddit app notification in the Android pull-down menu, with the timestamp 9:54. Text reads: "Trending on r/unitedkingdom - r/UK Brexit Megathread"]
Yay! ☹ Pretty sure I didn't need multiple text reminders (yesterday and today), but I guess that's better than nothing.
The practice nurse's request for an "urgent" blood draw under Plague Madness procedures did seem to get taken seriously! She was also able to request that it be done there in office, after asking where would work best for us, because mobility problems--and they managed to book me in there after all. So, we won't need to cab it to who knows where again.
(Previously, it was just walk-in during certain hours. Not right now!)
That's not for any new tests ordered, just a repeat of the HbA1c. Because those results came back improbably low even for a non-diabetic. 🙃 Like 22/4.2 low, depending on the units. Which have changed here, since I last had that run outpatient.
So yeah, time for another blood draw. At least this one should be easier to get to, and there's no reason not to drink water after I get up even though it's fasting. Unlike with the gastro procedures, which I am really really hoping will get scheduled again soon. 😑
Oh yes, I ended up feeling kinda dumb again when I finally figured out last night that I probably have a UTI.
Because it's been like two weeks (?) since the catheter was removed, and peeing is still burning/stinging my urethra. That's only to be expected for like a couple of days after removal, because direct irritation, but maybe two weeks? Not so much. Besides its seeming to get worse the past few days.
Tbf, I have never had a UTI before except once from another post-surgical catheter in like 1992. So, it's not like I am looking out for symptoms I could recognize in a second.
But, I still feel silly with the possibility not occurring to me earlier. At least partly blaming having so much else on my mind lately, and the symptoms being somewhat mild (if unpleasant enough) so far. *fingers crossed*
(It is pretty much confirmed now. After I mentioned it to a nurse earlier, they did a dip test on a sample--which came up positive for two different things. The nursing assistant didn't know to save the sample after that, though, and got rid of it when it needed to be sent down for proper testing. So, we're needing another sample, and hopefully I can get some more antibiotics which will fix this ASAP!)
Anyway, a sneaky UTI might help account for (a) my blood sugar running unexpectedly high without other things changing much, and (b) my mood the past little while. At a minimum.
Or, I am hoping so.
