Black Magic by Pablo Ramírez

We are located in space to delve into this world called Black Magic. Pablo Ramirez brings us closer to his creations, that far from being just clothing, they are classified as pure art. Climbing the stairs that take us back to colonial times, we come into a spacious first floor where white and simplicity predominate. The first thing one finds is a flamenco shock. The first pieces exposed are crossed by his Spanish heritage and the Flamenco influence in his life. This display of lines, ruffles and fringe makes you fall in love and his pieces.

Ramirez speciality is transmitting history through his creations. We can detect Spanish, Argentinian and French precedence in everything we see. Flamenco to austerity in times of crisis, after the New Look carrying the first lady Evita Peron (collection made at the request of the government for the bicentennial), colonialism, Parisian fashion and finally to the cultural influence of Little Red Riding Hood. Each extract has its peculiarity, its own cuts and textures, without neglecting the minimalist elegance and monochromatic designs that characterize Pablo Ramirez.

The author of this exhibition, graduated as Fashion and Textile Designer at the University of Buenos Aires manages a vast creative process, choosing inspirations that generates a historical and social significance, it is also influenced by his passion for the cinema of the 30s, 40s and 50s. Uniforms are a central piece of his collections, re conceptualizing them through sensuality and austere garments.

On the other hand, we have to Val & Musso, two photographers that transfere Ramirez’ creations from garments to the body to show its beauty from all angles. As it is expected, the photos show a reference to icons of the 40s and 50s, including designers such as Christian Dior and Balenciaga Cristobal. From sample for the exposition to productions for magazines, Val & Musso demonstrate their skills in terms of editorial fashion photography, making all abide by carrying one of the items by Ramirez.

"Ramirez, Val & Musso. Black Magic establishes dialogues between fashion photography and fashion design. It transforms displays into the ideal link between the street and the interior and at the same time, between the present and the past," Maria Laura Carrascal, curator.
