Mycology: The Secret Life Of Fungi
Who is ready to wander into the world where climate and mycology meet?
I am grateful to share that the second episode of my independent web series, Teaching Climate Together, is now live on YouTube.
This past summer, I traveled to Upstate New York to spend time with Dr. Patricia Ononiwu Kaishian, a brilliant PhD mycologist and author whose work has shaped how so many of us understand fungi.
As someone who forages with curiosity and care, learning from her felt like stepping into a deeper layer of the forest. This episode is close to my heart because it goes beyond identifying mushrooms. It opens a doorway into how mycelium moves, breathes, and supports the living world around us.
We filmed at the Huyck Preserve and Biological Research Station, a place rooted in community since 1931 and dedicated to connecting people with environmental knowledge for over eighty years.
Fungi hold many mysteries, and in this episode we get to explore a few of them in the wild. This collaboration has been growing slowly beneath the surface for almost a year, and seeing it finally rise into the light fills me with gratitude.
