Einstein wrote numerous letters, and historians have found numerous mentions of Einstein ripping on our feet coats. In one letter he said, “ When I was young, I found out that the big toe always ends up making a hole in a sock. So I stopped wearing socks.”

In another he said, “ Even on the most solemn occasions, I got away without wearing socks and hid the lack of civilization in high boots.”
