I saw one of my idols and a continuous source of inspiration and strength last night. She looked like an angel when she came on stage. I may have started crying 😅 When things were bad at home I would watch Rose on Charmed and instantly felt happy. Then years later Rose courageously spoke out about her involvement in the #MeToo movement and I felt liberated, like she sparked something inside me; a strong desire for change! To be heard! A resilience I never knew I had. After the trauma with the revolting filth that is Weinstein, Rose wondered if she should be sitting in a mental institution overlooking the water for a couple months, but she said what felt natural to her was doing art. That REALLY spoke to me. Rose said many things that really hit home. Like I said, she has been my voice for many years. It’s like she gets in my head and reads my thoughts and put my feelings into words when I cannot. These are unique to my situation which I ALWAYS thought no one understood, so her actually speaking those words out loud makes me feel validated which is what I have longed for forever. Who knew a stranger could give such a gift. She said she feels like a “walking talking trigger,” which is how I felt for many years. When asked what her inspirations are, she answered : the historical people who were ostracised, ghosts from the past like witches who were burnt at the stake. She said she feels a connection to them and, no, she wasn’t being ironic 😜 Rose talked about how everything happens for a reason and I believe this too. These horrible incidents are never our fault and should never happen in the first place, but she talked about how she believes it happened to her for a reason. I believe the same about myself. I was born premature and wasn’t meant to live, so I, too, knew I was destined to shake this world up. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, @rosemcgowan for all you do for me.
