I’m going to keep this short and sweet, just how my Mum would like it- because this post is totally in honour of her, the most epic woman a girl could ask for as a mother! Most of all this year, I am eternally grateful. I am immensely grateful a greater power chose her to be my mother and to Mum for carrying me for months, even when I gave her endless nausea and worry when I decided I wanted to come way earlier than expected. The spontaneity is definitely strong in the dna, what can I say 😅 But the worry didn’t end when I was born, and I’m so grateful that she put up with all my annoying traits for the past 29 years. Sometimes even I cannot handle myself, so I have heaps of appreciation 😂 I’m grateful, even though we are very different in many ways, she’s chooses to be my friend as an adult and still takes care of me, even though I’m quite independent. I watch these ‘Long Long Family’ programs and they give me perspective that even though we may have our arguments, I am so blessed that I know who you are and that we are not separated. It was International Pink Day on the 14th of this month, which is a special day each year where you wear something pink to show victims of bullying they are not alone. I didn’t want to just wear pink that one day, because the thing with bullying is that it’s persistent. It follows you daily. I wanted to symbolise this fact in my own way, to stand in solidarity with all those who have been bullied and are currently being bullied. Since a young age, I was bullied for my uniqueness and the fact that I’d fight back 🙋🏻‍♀️ I want to say that if there seems to be no light at the end of the tunnel right now, please msg me because this is what I thought too, but there truly is love and light out there, even if the world is eluding to this. I know every situation is different, but please stay strong and do not change your quirky self for anyone!! The world would be SO boring if we all came out of the same cookie-cutter! 25 Easter Hunts ago, we stood in this exact spot. A quarter of a century ago I cuddled up to my favourite person. It’s crazy how fast time flies! I never expected that one of my soul’s mates would be facing a long and gallant fight with cancer. Never in a million years, because how could this happen to someone so thoughtful, caring and generous, right?! Despite the fact I was brought up surrounded by religious family members (I even went to Sunday School!! 🤷🏻‍♀️), and am a deeply spiritual adult who has studied history extensively, I decided I believe in science. Yes, I am a Pisces which means I live up in the clouds in my own cool fantasy world I created and these stories in the bible can be so entertaining and have some moral substance, but I am about proof. I am all about respecting everyone’s beliefs and believe there is beauty in everything, but as a child I knew about death way too young, so now I am a person who lives in the moment. I decided that every Easter I would celebrate the gems in my life who are MY savours. My Jesus’s! This woman in the picture is my Aunty and she is my savour. Literally. She has been the first person I’ve confided in in many tough times throughout my life and I’ve never received any judgement in return. She has been holding the torch while I’ve navigated long dark tunnels in my life. If I didn’t have her there supporting me all these years, I can tell you with complete certainty, I would not even be alive today. SHE saved me in many ways. My Aunty is my Jesus. Find your happy place and the people you feel peace around.
