Back when I was writing the fan fic, I doodled some of the scenes or concepts to grasp my ideas more firmly. In this one I drew Inez and Slider in their winter gear for Penguia, since Inez is accompanying Slider as he's getting important machine parts on random sites.

Slider would actively be a dick to Inez, starting when they first met up again and up until a certain point in the Penguia trip. Insinuating she's slowing him down, taking jabs at her height to "motivate"(anger) her, and just being kinda hostile in general. He had reasons for pushing others away, but it was starting to stress Inez out (though she never stopped trying to break him out of his shell), leading to the main incident of that part of their journey.

After Slider refuses to help find the cure for the Cybird flu to save Penguin Village (because of an incoming snow storm), Inez says she's going to get it. The two get into an argument and Inez snaps back, revealing how she views herself and that she'd feel like a burden and a waste if she can't save her friends. She storms off in tears while Slider has a flashback from when his father was "killed". Slider feels like shit for treating Inez so poorly after everything, and decides he's going to help.

While Fluff and Inez found the cure, they got chased by one of Hacker's monsters, and when Inez was about to take the killing shot, all the stress built up from previous events caught up to her and she had a panic attack. Inez and Fluff are functionally helpless until Slider saves them, and comforts Inez enough to snap her out of it.

After they get back to Fluff's place to take shelter, Slider gives Inez a heartfelt and sincere apology, and tells her he relates to how she feels. They become close friends from the ordeal, and Slider realizes he has feelings for her in later chapters.

That part, along with the part Hacker ambushes those two are the parts I remember the most fondly.
