Another interpretation of a Lapis Peridot Fusion
trying to figure out how many limbs Cinnabar should have. I think my instinct that she should have a second pair of arms is probably right, but not as sure on the eyes. Probably just gonna go with two tho bc it's easier to draw, and I want to give Pearl and Sapphire's fusion extra eyes
I need to analyze more fusions and draw more cinnabar.....
Pearl-Sapphire fusion is a very fun idea to me, because I think she might just be micromanaging control issues out of anxiety incarnate. She's got a good idea of how things are meant to go, and she gets very stressed out when variables change or when she she doesn't know what's going on. (combing Pearl's neuroticism with Sapphire's future vision, and a touch of Garnet's stress over being the leader who needs to know everything)
She and the Ruby-Amethyst fusion are both such disbalanced piling of issues that feed into each other, it's so funny to me.
Cinnabar is too high-energy, full impulsivity and intense, explosive emotions, she's anxious when alone and full of abandonment issues. Do not leave her alone with her thoughts (pre s5 at least), she does Not want to consider who she is when she isn't showing off to Steven and generally playing and having fun.
Pearl-Sapphire fusion (unnamed thus far) is also anxious, but she copes with it by trying to be in control and know everything, instead of distracting herself. She thinks she's the only one with the brain cell but she also knows she can't handle everything alone.
(I'll need to really sit down and think about Sapphire and Pearl some more to be more confident in any of this, but that's the mental image I've got in my head right now at least)
as well as Cinnabar, and the theoretical Pearl-Sapphire fusion that exists in my head, I do kinda want to make a whole amethyst-pearl-ruby fusion as well just to make her a fire opal. no other reason
Every time I'm reading a fanfic or scrolling fanart and find on that makes some excuse or other to have Garnet unfuse (because as we all know, Ruby and Sapphire are awesome), I can't help but imagine an SU-setting world in which there's huge discourse about perma fusion representation, and regular depictions of them unfusing like that is a huge point of contention where people are all like "really puts your internal bias that fusions aren't as interesting or valuable as their individual components on display when you do that, sometimes fusions can just stay fused and your resolution to keep separating them really says a lot about what you really think about perma fusion" and then I just sit there imagining that horrible world I've invented for a little while, before kudosing/reblogging the inciting fic/art and moving on with my day (because again, Ruby and Sapphire are awesome)
