I’m 26 today. What a different life I’ve lead this year. Here’s a recap of my lessons. 1.) I ended my relationship with an emotionally unavailable boyfriend of a year. Although I pined over him for quite some time (a total of 4 years), I’m so much better without him in my life. Woman, you deserve someone who feels like the luckiest man on the Earth to be with you. Please remember that. 2.) I graduated from college with honors. I worked really hard and finally got that fucking piece of paper. Education comes first. 3.) I dated an older, super white collar man. He reinforced what I already learned a long time ago: fancy cars, extravagant meals, and expensive jewelry mean nothing if you do not have goodness and warmth in your heart. Your material possessions do not justify treating people with disrespect. 4.) Don’t fuck with your past. Literally. Don’t have sex with someone you had sex with once before just because you’re lonely and want dick. 5.) Dream bigger, work harder, and fucking GRIND, mama! You went from phone girl to Administrative Assistant to a hand surgeon to working in higher education and applying for your MBA! You can fucking do whatever the fuck you want, and you’ll own that shit. 6.) Honey, if he doesn’t love you, don’t wait for him to do so. He either loves you or he doesn’t. It’s as simple as that. 7.) Be you. Emotional, sensitive, adventurous, introverted, passionate. Don’t let anyone take the joy away from you, because you are naturally jovial. OWN IT. 8.) You need to be better with money. Good luck with that one.

2017. I stayed in school, left a long term relationship, worked my ass off, stopped lying to myself, untangled a mess, rekindled a spark, learned about myself, heard difficult things, spoke difficult things, said goodbye to toxic people, got into a car accident, fractured my wrist, made some art, left my job, started another... So, 2018, I feel more centered. My impulsive decisions (financial, emotional) will be acknowledged and worked on. I will make more art, I will listen more, and I will love unselfishly.
