i've just added my futurefm muses and info to this blog, so everything's fully incorporated! futurefm is a little side project focusing on the city of c point in a dystopian cyberpunk future where mercenaries and androids run rampant.
all futurefm muses are available for viewing on my directory, and all futurefm specific posts will be tagged as #futurefm on my blog. hopefully this'll make things easier as everything can be on one blog, instead of me trying to maintain two blogs at once. everyone is available for plotting, so please do reach out to me if you've spotted a muse you're interested in.
more worldbuilding info about c point under the cut.
built upon the ruins of chicago, c point, like all the other major cities in the americas, is covered by a huge dome to preserve what’s left of its water and air supply. separated into multiple districts, the city has a thriving taxi / ride sharing system, the subway tunnels long since abandoned. the company running public utilities, infin8 solutions, has added a little bonus to the dome; the inside displays normal, untainted skies, according to the time of day.
compared to other major cities, c point’s society is fairly community-focused. although most aspects of life are managed by various corporations (as with all cities in the americas), you’ll always have someone watching your back, if you know the right people to be friendly with. however, the city's mercenary problem is starting to catch public attention. hackers, killers, impersonators… law enforcement has been on the decline, but the city’s governing bodies won’t ignore this type of crime forever.
two major aspects of science fiction were proven correct. robots and androids are now commonplace, with artificial intelligence and simulated learning. there was a time where human-driven androids seemed to be becoming a reality, but it was determined that a human consciousness hooked up to artificial bodies was inhumane and the creation was outlawed. bummer.
biomodifications are also growing common. initially created for the sake of healthcare, it’s now customary to see biomods installed for extra utility or aesthetic purposes. a basic operating system created by tech company dijimod is available for most biomods, but many independent biomod mechanics have developed their own os which users can purchase and upload onto their systems.
anthony runs his tongue over pristine teeth, frustration evident in his eyes as he looks down his nose at his sister and the two residents in question. information wasn’t hard to come by with the amount of drifters that would come in and out of their shelter, but he tried not to listen. amara, on the other hand, was a wonderful eavesdropper. her activism work involved her more in the streets than anthony would care to admit he liked, but he was grateful his younger sister was so adamant about change. these two, however, would endanger the future of their shelter and he knew amara knew this. “you’re telling me--”
“yes. did i stutter?” a groan is elicited, passed through tight lips. “do you think i would hide this from you? we need--” and she turns to hawke and novak. “look, i understand that you--”
and before she can address the refuge that they were seeking, anthony speaks up, “we can’t house you two. i’m sorry-- it’s just not plausible for the shelter. if word got out i’d have people from everywhere lookin’ for a sanctuary and then i’d get the forcers breathing down my neck.”
amara doesn’t even look towards anthony, still attention directed to the guests. “why can we trust you to stay here? how long do you intend on kicking around? lets talk about what you expect from us and how we can accommodate you-- i respect your work and want to be sure you’re safe during your stay here.” ( @futurefm !! )
