Lydia Gaines (Sink) is a closed-off, angry teenager who has been in the foster system almost all her life. When she is sent to her newest home, a beautiful house with lovely foster parents, a welcoming if shy foster sister, and a large forest just in the backyard, she refuses to let herself believe that this will be any different than her other placements - until she learns her foster family’s secret. Lysander and Malia, and their daughter Poppy (Chávez), are all dryads, blessed with extraordinary powers over nature and tasked with protecting the forest by their home, and the longer Lydia spends with them, the more she learns about the world around her… and how to open herself up to it.
