gemma victor hit the ground a prisoner. at fifteen, she was branded an arsonist, exiled from the ark for a crime she can't quite outrun—and maybe doesn't want to. on the surface, she’s a ticking bomb: impulsive, obsessive, dangerous. but it’s more complicated than that. her fascination with fire isn’t just a thrill or a compulsion—it’s the only thing that ever made sense. survival on earth is a brutal, lawless scramble, and gemma’s demons don’t make it easier. neither does the boy who watches her like she’s a match waiting to strike. john murphy doesn’t trust her—not even a little. and to be fair, she doesn’t trust herself. still, something electric crackles between them, something reckless and sharp-edged, something neither of them is ready for. but this new world doesn’t care about readiness. as the threats close in—from the grounders, from the forest, from inside their own camp—gemma’s fire might be the only thing that keeps them alive. the question is whether she can wield it without letting it destroy everything. especially when murphy’s disdain starts to shift—when hate turns to heat, and heat starts to feel a little too much like home. some fires can’t be tamed. some shouldn’t be.

The quote that resonates with Lysander the most is: “Sometimes, it takes a good fall to really know where you stand.”

This works for him literally for he was one of The 100 that were sent to Earth’s surface, which is sort of like a fall – going away from everything he’s ever known, punished for something that isn’t his fault, forced now to fend for himself. Now that he is free, however, he realises that this fall was the best thing to happen for him. Now, he has more of a life than he ever did on the Ark, he found himself with solid footing, and he wouldn’t give it up for anything in the world.
