she saw the familiar flash of red, one that mirrored her own and quickly ginny moved. she had been hiding out in one of the alleyways, used to trying to sneak around, to fighting like this. but she could see it in annie’s face, there was that same fear that she had felt when she first looked into the street reflecting off of her. “hey, annie, hey. you’re gonna be alright. come on.” ginny said, grabbing her arm, trying not to scare her.

ginny was pulling on her shoes as her door was propped up against her back. she knew she needed to get outside, whatever was going on in the streets around them, she had seen before. it was similar to the fall, whatever nightmare magic happened then. she was prepared for this, or so she thought. wand in hand, she tried sending out some texts, praying there was still service as she noticed a familiar face. “hermione!” she ran towards her, arm linking with the other as a wave of relief passed over her. “thank merlin, have you seen anyone else? luna’s disappeared.”

ginny realized quickly as she landed on the island where she was, even if she didn’t quite know the exact location. luna and neville were here, they had mentioned some strange island, but it would have been nice to mention the freezing temperature. she pulled her arms around herself, moving into the woods, hoping the trees would provide a little reprieve from the winds. “luna! neville!” she called, knowing it might be hopeless to just start shouting their names into the sky but it was at least something, anything to help her as she tried to find her friends.

she had hoped for a bit more warning about the way this island worked, the way the weather changed so drastically. she had known it wasn’t safe, but at least it felt somewhat safer than the city right now. she had been trying to track down her family, her friends she knew who were here when she saw the way the tide began to recede quickly. pausing as she turned to the crowd near her, seeing a familiar mess of red hair in the mix, ginny moved, running to her brother’s side. “ron! that’s, that’s not normal is it?”

she thought she could handle this. she ran out looking for her family, for her friends. she had been so worried something would happen to them that the only thought she had was making it through the streets, focusing on the faces in the crowd instead of the monsters that surrounded them. but she had underestimated the amount of monsters that would run into her. she’d ended up trying to retreat, her leg cut up badly enough that she needed to find shelter. a store front had already been opened, ducking in through the broken door, ginny fell against the wall. she would just have to catch her breath, then she could focus on the rest of this. it was just a little blood.
