Logitech G935 review
After using the G935 for a few weeks, I was sold on the headset and definitely thought it was one of the strongest wireless headsets I had used.
When you first lay eyes on these bad boys they might look familiar, well that is because they are replicas of the G933 that came out almost 4 years ago. That’s right, the changes are so minor that you would not notice unless you’ve nit-picked at these like a reviewer would. The ear covers that house the battery and wireless dongle have had a slight design change but are still the same fit as the G933s. The ear cups have changed material to a leather from a polyester (I think). Other than that, nothing that I could see. The very useless LED strip still at the back of the muffs, along with the excessive amount of buttons and the USB (NOT TYPE-C MIGHT I ADD). The buttons are difficult to use and I would almost prefer the ability to macro these to my keyboard with the software rather. The main issue I had with the buttons was the scroll wheel volume rocker, which is super lose and beeps every time you breathe on it. I would often lean back and BEEP BEEP BEEP, the volume would adjust because there was np stiffness to the scroll wheel. Tighten it, please.
The mic is tucked perfectly in the left cup and comes down with an extended tip. The microphone has the ability to mute when lifted to a certain point which you will know through an audio cue and a red light on the microphone. The microphones quality is still very “logitechy” with that muffled and tinny sound you expected back in 2016. Logitech has not done themselves any favours with this, for all I know this is the exact same mic that was in the G933. Did I mention that there was a mute button on the headset? Yes, add an unnecessary button to the 500 buttons even though you can mute the mic by lifting it, which is easier than doing a reach around.
The seller for the Logitech G935 is the surround sound and the new 50mm drivers that they have used for the bass boosting beautiful sound that these bad boys push out. I used these in 2 events, being FPS and Adventure. Using the vocal and precision setting for FPS was weird and actually really decent, as 7.1 usually gave your brain a slap and just confused your situational awareness, whereas this monster emphasized the bass, gave you a big listening stage but still kept the audio in place without distorting direction. For the adventure, I put more emphasis on the bass and gave the explosions that extra bang, boy these babies kept up.
G Hub is the new Logitech software where I set all these setting to what I needed, everything from the RGB on the headset and mouse, to MACROs and button assignment on HEADSET (that’s right) and mouse. The G Hub software brought my Cam, Mouse and headset together with ease of use and the abilities to switch profiles with ease. I absolutely love this software. However, when you use the 3,5mm jack you lose all function of the software and 7.1, which is only available through the wireless mode. The battery in wireless currently pushes out 8 hours with RGB and 12 hours without, however, I personally experienced around 6 hours MAX with RGB and 8 hours with. This may have been a faulty unit or an overused review unit I had.
