| REQUESTED, Gaara cries, learning to accept not everyone uses him and that there are people who truly do love him
Word Count: 939
“Why do they love me?” That’s the first question that Gaara asked his brother when he’d entered the office. Kankuro had been so caught off guard that he didn’t know what to say.
“Why does… Y/N?” He tilts his head, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly. “I dunno, man, you’re gonna have to ask them about that. It’s not something I can really answer for them.”
Gaara simply nods and turns back to the paperwork in front of him. He didn’t really know what truly pushed the question into his head. He was remembering his childhood, trying to single out the good times, the fun, the love…
He remembers the fear, though. The fear his siblings had for him, the people he now calls his friends, and how anyone in the Sand Village looked at him, he remembers that distinctly. He remembers children being told not to go near him, that he wasn’t safe to play with.
And then he thinks of you. From the Leaf Village. You’d given up everything to come to the Sand Village to be with him. When you’d first met you hadn’t shown him fear or anger like everyone else. You’d shown confusion and compassion, even curiosity. You were intrigued by him and you found him fascinating despite the fact that he’d almost killed one of your best friends in the preliminaries in the chunin exams.
He was wary of you up until around the time he took over as the Kazekage. You often paid him and his siblings visits, bringing gifts from your own missions. It wasn’t until Kankuro pushed him to confront you that you admitted your feelings to him and he struggled to wrap his head around it. Yet, he admitted to feeling quite fond of you and was willing to try a relationship if that was what you truly wanted.
So you did.
The two of you maintained a relationship through letters for a few months until you tired of it and opted to leave behind your life, friends and family in the Leaf Village just to be closer to Gaara. The act in itself confused him. No one had ever shown him as much love as you had by giving up everything you knew. And even still, he granted you permission to act as a jonin in the Sand Village.
What bothered him after was worrying for your safety in the various missions he sent you. Logically he knew you were strong and he had nothing to worry about, but the ache in his chest would not settle until he could see you for himself, often leading to him showing up at your doorstep when you should have been sleeping. A solution you proposed to him was that the two of you should move in together, taking the next step in your relationship while allowing him to keep an eye on you and make sure you were resting and healing after missions.
That’s what made waiting for you to come home again so hard. He needed an answer to the question he’d asked his brother. He needed to know you were safe and unharmed, yet he knew you wouldn’t be home until well after midnight if everything went according to plan.
So when you finally do arrive home, imagine your surprise seeing him sitting at the kitchen table, his head on his arms seemingly asleep. You set your bag down, walking over and crouching slightly to wake him up. Your hand finds his shoulder, squeezing while your other hand finds his knee. “Gaara, my love, come on. Let’s get you into bed…” You smile softly and stand as he stirs, sitting up in the chair.
When you turn away, his hand slips around your wrist and pulls you back. “Why do you love me?” That certainly wasn’t what you were expecting to hear. “I’m a monster. I have done…” He couldn’t finish that thought. He didn’t want to hear you agree with him.
But instead, you step forward as he looks up at you, pushing his legs apart and standing between them. Your arms go around his shoulders, pulling him into your chest. You tangle your fingers in his hair, leaning down to kiss his forehead. “I love you because you make me happier than I have ever been in my whole life. What you have done while you were not yourself does not define who you are. Who you are now and what you do now, that is why I love you. When I think of being happy and my future, I do not see a future without you by my side, my love.”
At this point, you could feel his tears seeping through your shirt, your grip only tightening in realization. “When I wake up in the morning, the first thing I think of is you. I’m so happy that I get to wake up beside you, as well as go to sleep beside you. My chest feels… full when I’m with you, when I simply think of you. I love you for you. And I love you for who I am when I’m with you. I’m the best I can be because of you and because I want to make you happy.”
As he sobs quietly in your arms, you rock him, patient as always and allowing him his moment of weakness without judgement. That’s one of the reasons he loved you so. He was allowed to be weak with you without fear that he’d be judged or taken advantage of. With you and your reassurances, he knows he’ll always be loved and safe.
Summary: Gaara and you have been best friends for years now, and his feelings for you have been growing to an unbearable amount. He needs to tell you... but can he? What if you don't feel the same? (Gender neutral reader!)

A/N: I've been wanting to finally push myself into making a writing blog for Naruto for so long, and FINALLY I have done it. Of course when I sat down to write this, I realized today I had some writers block. So this short lil thing was just what my mind would throw out for now~ expect a TON more Gaara content from me ahaha, I love him.
~ ♡ ~
He never knew love could feel like this.
In the beginning of his journey to improve himself, to become someone that could love and be loved in return...Gaara never imagined there was much more to love than what he felt for his village, his friends, or his siblings.
Until you showed up.
And for a long time, his love and adoration for you he thought was nothing more than platonic. You were both simply best friends, with an inseparable bond like no other. You supported him through all the hard times, and showed him how to treat himself with more kindness than he felt he deserved.
It wasn't long until your presence became addictive for him. Whenever you even so much as walked past his view in the Kazekage's office window, he found himself wishing that he was right by your side talking to you about anything and everything, even if mundane. Whenever you visited him during or after work, he couldn't shake away the feeling of his heart racing in his chest, or the heat that burned up in his entire body. He wanted to reach out to you, to hold you.
When you were sad, he wanted to be the person who wiped your tears and do whatever he could in his power to make sure you would smile again, as brightly as you once would. He wanted to protect you, and to keep you out of harms way more than he ever wanted to protect anyone else in his entire life.
He wasn't clueless. He had heard all about these feelings from others he knew...but that didn't make it any easier to come to terms with the fact that he was hopelessly in love with you.
In his eyes, you deserved more than he could ever give you. His past haunted him, making his mind shout how unworthy of someone so heartwrenchingly sweet and caring he was. He couldn't do that to you. He didn't want to.
But as you stood there in front of him, there was only one thing on his mind, playing over and over again. He wanted to be selfish, just this once. He wanted to at least let you know how much you flipped his world upside down, changing the meaning of the word love in his eyes. You were his sun, his reason for being.
No...he refused.
Someone as divine as you should never be-
"I love you, Gaara." The words fell from your lips effortlessly, as If they were made just for him. He couldn't believe that he heard you right.
"I'm..." And damn, did he curse himself for not knowing the right words to say to you right now.
You stared at him with the same eyes he found himself lost in since the day you both met, and he swore he was falling in love all over again. The things you did to him had to be illegal.
"If you don't feel the same, it's okay. But I had to tell you that before it ate me up any further. I love you, more than words could ever explain." Your cheeks were heating up now in embarrassment. You'd never regret loving him, but the pain of rejection was something you didn't think through, making your heart clench in agony at the thought of it.
However, Gaara slowly placed his hands into your own, bringing them up to his lips as he placed a soft kiss onto your skin. This was also something he wanted to do for many years now.
"I love you as well, Y/N. More than anything under the sun." His tone was far different than you had ever heard him before, melting away your anxieties about his response to your confession. You let out a breath you weren't aware you were holding, making him smile in amusement.
His eyes were now pricked with tears that threatened to spill, pulling you into the tightest hug either of you had ever shared. He didn't know he could feel this happy, either.
"From this day forward...I vow to make you happy." He whispered lowly into your ear, his voice sending a shiver down your spine. You pulled back from him, far too soon for his liking, placing a hand onto his warm cheek as you stared into his seafoam eyes.
"You already make me happy, Gaara. But I wish to make a vow as well." You started, peaking his curiosity. "I will make you feel like the most loved man on this Earth." He immediately searched your expression, his heart rate picking up even more than it was before. Finally, the tears that threatened him earlier were finally spilling freely, making you pull him back into another embrace.
"I already feel that way thanks to you, Y/N. Thank you. Thank you for loving me."
If someone had told him several years ago he would one day be surrounded by people who loved and cherished him, and he would love them in return with everything he had, he would have thought they were insane.
The fact that you were in his life now was the biggest miracle of all. From here on out, he would be sure to hold your heart gently in his hands and treat you with every ounce of love he could possibly offer. Just as you always did him.
Hello, I hope you are doing well! I saw that your requests were open and was wondering if I could request a Gaara x reader fic where they are on their first date at a fair and he wins her something? Thank you in advance and have a good day!
Fair Date
Pairing: Gaara x gn!reader
Content: gn!reader, fluff & sfw, mentions of rough childhoods, the Naruto universe has rides and rollercoasters.
Description: Gaara wins you a stuffed animal during your date to the annual Sand Village fair.
“Do I look alright?”
Gaara turned away from the mirror in his bedroom to face his two siblings, Temari and Kankuro. They sat on the edge of his bed rather patiently. Temari was sitting with her legs crossed over one another, her beloved fan leaning against the wall closest to the bedroom door. Kankuro was slouched over with his elbows touching his knees, only perking up when Gaara finally broke the patient silence after making his siblings wait on him to finish dressing for a solid hour.
“Oh man, look at you!” Kankuro smiled, “I gotta say, seeing you dressed up like that suits you, Gaara.”
“I agree. You look nice,” Temari spoke up, pushing herself off of the bed. She made her way over to the shorter redhead, making tiny adjustments here-and-there to his hair and clothing.
“Thanks, you two,” Gaara offered the slightest grin of appreciation, trying to keep still as his sister started to straighten out his sleeves. “I wasn’t sure what to wear. As the Kazekage, attending what will be the first annual fair of the Sand Village means a lot to everyone, and it’s also my first date with Y/N, so I wanted to look nice for them as well. Then again, being that it is a fair, I was worried about overdressing, but I think I still might be slightly overdoing it. Perhaps I should go change-”
“No, no, no,” Temari gripped his shoulders. “You’re dressed perfectly, alright? Now you better get going or else you’ll be late.”
Gaara shifted his pale green eyes over to Kankuro. The puppet master gave an encouraging nod, and with that, a confident grin appeared upon Gaara’s face.
—
“Come on, Gaara! This looks fun!”
“Alright, after you.”
You grabbed the wrist of the Kazekage once more. The fair was rather extraordinary, especially as the sun kissed away the day and welcomed the night. The lights of the fair underneath the dark and starry sky only made you grin and shiver with every new attraction you laid your eyes on. Gaara’s heart beamed at the sight of your excitement. His eyes never once glanced away from you, as he couldn’t imagine there would be anything else he’d rather see. Even with the beautiful sky up above, sandy mountains in the distance highlighted by the moonlight, an enormous ferris wheel surrounded by bright and colorful rides and games, he truly only wanted to look at you.
You both approached a rather fun looking game. It was a colorful display with four chairs seated in front of four water guns aiming at balloons.
“Hey there!” A man greeted. “Welcome to Balloon Blast!”
He was a young shinobi with a scar on his right cheek, a bright smile across his face as he gave a slight bow in Gaara’s direction.
“It’s an honor to have you here, Lord Kazekage. Would you like to give this game a try?”
Gaara looked at you, his eyebrows raised in a look of great uncertainness. Your hand, that was formerly wrapped around his wrist, made its way to his own hand, and you interlaced your fingers with his. You gave his hand a comforting squeeze, your eyes glistening as you practically bounced where you stood.
“Would you like to play, Y/N? I don’t mind watching,” Gaara questioned.
Truth be told, being at the fair simply reminded Gaara of his childhood; his undoubtedly bitter past. While he had made his own peace with it, he couldn’t help but think about the games he used to play when he was a boy. None of them involved balloons or water guns, but even so, the sight of the games at every corner opened up the memory of his troubled youth.
“Sure, I’d love to!” You grabbed one of the empty seats, looking up at the shinobi. “How do you play?”
“It’s simple,” the man smiled, turning around to point at one of the deflated balloons behind him. “When I say go, all you have to do is pull the trigger on the water gun in front of you and aim at that tiny circle. If you can get your balloon to fill up before you run out of time, then you get a free prize.” The man gestured to the variety of stuffed animals, shirts, and even ninja tools.
“Oh wow!” You pointed to one of the stuffed animals. It was an enormous light brown teddy bear. “Look, Gaara! I’m gonna try to win that one!”
“You can do this, I believe in you. All you have to do is focus.” Gaara’s smile was one of reassurance. It was one that calmed your nerves up until the man rung a bell. With that, you pulled the trigger, trying your hardest to keep it steady.
Any confidence Gaara’s smile had given you was simply short lived, as after a moment, the circles in which you had to aim at had started to move around. Perhaps, that would have been fine, if the water gun didn’t start to vibrate as well.
Before you knew it, a loud buzzer blared, followed by an enthusiastic “aw, you lose!” from the gaming machine.
“Aw, damn it,” you frowned. You rested your chin in the palm of your hands.
“Sorry, maybe next time,” the man shrugged.
You felt rather silly when a prick of sadness started to sting in your chest. It was only a silly game. Only a silly stuffed animal. But anyone who understood what it was like to be a shinobi with a troubled past knew that it was deeper than that. It was one of the reasons why the Sand Village decided to have the fair in the first place; for ninja to reclaim their innocence lost to violence, war, or any other form of tragedy.
You were no stranger to any of it. This fair was the chance to make up for your past. It was a chance for everyone. You could have simply tried again, but you looked over at Gaara, and you didn’t want to waste his time on something so silly.
“It’s alright,” you raised the corners of your lips into a falsified grin. “It’s just a game. Let’s go.”
You started to walk off, only to realize Gaara wasn’t by your side.
“Gaara?” You tilted your head, turning to face him, but he paid you no mind. He simply sat down in one of the seats.
“I’d like to try,” he said.
You walked back over to Gaara as the man restarted the machine, standing over your lover’s shoulder. You looked down at him, your puzzled glance darting around, but after only a moment, you were able to put the pieces together.
Gaara wanted to try to win the stuffed animal for you.
Your heart fluttered inside of your chest. Win or lose, your body was overwhelmed with a warming blush of what was perhaps one of the biggest acts of love and kindness anyone had ever given you in your bittersweet lifetime.
As the nearby buzzer went off and the game started running, a small crowd of nearby fairgoers curiously gathered around at the sight of their own Kazekage playing Balloon Blast.
Just as the game had done moments before, the circles started to move around as the water gun shook aggressively in Gaara’s hand. However, to Gaara, it mattered not.
He was going to win.
Even with the unexpected difficulty of all the moving pieces, Gaara calmly pulled the trigger to his water gun, circling his aim around to follow the operating pieces. It was only a matter of time before his balloon started to fill up with water.
Your eyes widened. “Gaara, you’re about to win!”
Gaara’s concentration was deadly. He had one eye closed, his hands placed carefully on the water gun, and his mind shoving away any thoughts swirling around about his childhood.
Soon enough, the balloon popped, and three victory bells rang from the machine. “Congratulations, you win!”
The nearby crowd cheered rather politely as the man reached up to pull down the stuffed animal you had pointed out earlier, handing it to Gaara.
Gaara immediately placed the stuffed animal in your arms.
“I-I don’t know what to say,” you mumbled, looking down at the big teddy bear that was now all yours. You wrapped your arms around Gaara as best as you could with the stuffed animal. “Thank you, this means so much.”
And it did. It truly did.
Gaara gave you a kiss on the forehead. “I saw how much it meant to you. I knew I had to at least try to get it for you.”
“You had one like this when you were a kid, right?”
“That’s right,” Gaara gave a nod. “I did. It wasn’t as big, but I loved it.”
“Well,” you looked into his eyes, “this one can be ours to share.”
Gaara looked down at the stuffed animal. He touched the soft bear, and with his other hand, he glided his thumb across your cheek softly. You leaned into his touch, as it was healing. It was healing whatever troubled you both. And in that moment, looking at each other, nothing else mattered.
“Come on,” you said softly, “Let’s ride the Ferris wheel!”

Life
“He is so… He is so very small…” Karura whispered, her weak voice barely escaping her, when she could finally see him. She let out a tired smile, and slowly reached one hand towards the tiny baby that the medics had laid beside her, their faces merely inches apart. She softly touched the newborn’s skin. To think that he was so small he fit right in her hands. And he looked so fragile…
The child wept inconsolably. Quietly, his voice as weak as all of him seemed to be. Karura felt her heart overflow as she pulled him towards herself, touching his cheek against her own, now wet with water and salt. “No matter what happens,” she whispered quietly so that her son, and only her son could hear her, “I will always protect you, Gaara.” And her tears mixed with his were the last thing there was before everything went dark.
***
Karura awoke in confusion. She didn’t recognize that bed, that ceiling, those pillars, that smell… She didn’t recognize anything in that place. When she tried to get up, her arms failed and her body continued lying on the mattress. She muttered, frustrated and annoyed. She had the feeling that she had had such a confused, painful even, dream and although she seemed to have slept for days, she felt weak.
It was a light snore, more of loud breath than an actual snore, that drawed the woman's attention away from her thoughts and the exasperating stimuli of awakening. With some effort, she turned her neck towards the noise. She felt every muscle and bone protest, but the scene she found herself looking at made her forget about any discomfort. Deeply asleep and sitting on a chair not too far away from her, Rasa held a tiny red-haired child with huge turquoise-colored eyes. Rasa was holding her son.
Unlike his father, little Gaara was completely awake. His eyes were wide open and he was staring at his mother with enormous attention and curiosity, not letting a single movement escape his gaze. When Karura smiled at him, with her heart both tight and warmly calm, the child began to cry immediately.
With the shrill cry, Rasa woke up suddenly, disoriented, holding the little baby tightly in a reflex not let him fall. When his gaze met his wife's, however, he understood everything, and his eyes got filled with tears. "Karura..." he whispered, as if he still didn't believe it. "Karura, you… You woke up." he added, while his lips curved into a silly smile, a happy smile.
The newborn cried louder, as if to remind his father that he was there and that he was impatient. Holding the child in his arms, Rasa walked towards the woman. He handed Gaara to her and knelt beside the bed she lied on, reaching out to touch her hair. "Karura, I..." his voice was cracking, the sweet surprise still not absorbed. As the Kazekage searched for the right words, Karura simply smiled. A huge smile, genuinely cheerful and full of life. Full of life.
Rasa began to laugh, drunk with happiness, and the woman did the same.. Even Gaara, a moment ago screaming with all the urgency his infant lungs allowed him, was laughing along with the two of them. As he caressed the blonde hair of his wife and gazed her with love and admiration through the tears, the shinobi whispered: “Kankuro and Temari miss you. And this one,” he added, indicating the youngest with a shake of his head. “This one didn't stop crying until I brought him with me to visit you. Didn't move away for a minute. He was absolutely determined to protect you.”
Karura smiled and felt her warm tears slip on her cheeks. It seems the roles had been reversed. But It wasn’t a problem. Her family was now complete, and she would have time to fulfill what she had promised her little one.
Vida
Enquanto o Kazekage procurava as palavras certas, Karura simplesmente sorriu.
Estava absolutamente determinado a proteger você.”
Karura sorriu e sentiu lágrimas quentes rolarem pelas bochechas. Parece que os papéis haviam se invertido. Mas não havia problema. Sua família agora estava completa, e ela teria tempo para cumprir aquilo que prometera ao seu pequenino.
Gaara with an s/o who loves plants but is a terrible gardener. All my plants die 😭😭😭
AHH anon this ask melted me. I’s actually inspired on the time I murdered my mom’s favorite orchid except well, romantic and with gaara in the mix. I can assure you killing my mom’s orchid was very much not fun. I hope you enjoy it babe.
It was the fourth plant in a row. You couldn’t believe how everything Gaara touched blossomed into the most beautiful flowers, but as soon as it got to your hands it wilted faster than you could blink.
“Please stay alive, will you?” you whispered to the Orchid as you caressed its burnt leaves.
Plants refused to stay alive with you, and it was a fact you had to come to terms with, as much as you loved them. Gaara had tried gifting you your favorite flowers, lilies, chrysanthemums, violets, orchids, and all you’d managed to kill.
Frustrated, and feeling like a failure, you crossed your arms in front of your chest.
“I’m sorry, okay? I didn’t know that small amount of sunshine would kill you.” you told the plant.
You tried placing it in a different spot, knowing full well it wouldn’t help much, when you heard a knock on your door.
You opened to see Gaara standing with a shy smile on his face, holding a few gardening tools in his hand.
“I’m here to help you nurse the plant back to health” he announced as you let him in.
You kissed his cheek while he tenderly clipped the burnt parts off the leaves and sprinkled medicine on it. Each step of the process he explained so you knew what was going on. The sight of him so determined, caring for the plant, warmed your heart.
“I’ll stay here as long as you need me to, and you’ll have the happiest orchid around.”
Summary: After receiving news of Gaara’s death, you rush home immediately after completing your mission. You were completely unaware of the fact that your fiance was alive until you saw it for yourself. The gentle moments that Gaara provided was something that you desperately needed after being away for so long, and he was more than happy to have you home.
Warnings: FLUFF like hella fluff, my shit writing, shortness of a story

The door slammed open, startling everyone in the meeting. Your eyes rapidly flickered across every face until they landed on the one that mattered most to you.
The tightness in your chest lifted instantly, relief rushing into your lungs as you gasped for breath you hadn’t even realized you were holding.
Tears stung at your eyes; your lower lip trembled as you watched his figure rise from the chair to make his way towards you.
The hushed sound of voices was drowned out by your racing heart, your blurry eyes stared into familiar seafoam green ones.
He was alive.
He wasn’t dead.
He was here.
“Y/n.” Cold, rough fingers reached for your hand, gently grasping them. The familiar touch caused a loud sob to escape your lips, your body all but collapsed against him. You clung to his clean robes, gripping at the front tightly as you buried your face against his strong chest, his familiar scent seeping into your nose.
You breathed him in completely as you sobbed helplessly against him. The suppressed emotions that you were feeling while on your mission finally released, spilling out of you like an overfilled cup.
“Gaara.” You cried. “What - How - Why did you -” you couldn’t even form a proper sentence right now.
He hushed you gently, his grip on you tightened, his hand rubbed against your back soothingly.
Both of you were completely unaware of the people leaving the room, shooed away by Kankuro. He knew that his brother would want some alone time right now. After all, you were gone on this mission for months, you had missed everything.
The room was all but silent except for your crying that was slowly beginning to diminish, the soft shushing and comfort that Gaara was providing easily soothed your hysteria.
When your crying had finally turned into soft hiccups, Gaara grabbed at your shoulders, gently pulling you away from his body.
“Let me look at you.” He murmured quietly, his eyes scanning over your body. A soft frown began to coat his lips as he took in your battered form.
There weren’t any life-threatening injuries, at least not anymore from the looks of it.
His expression softened though as he watched you wipe away your tears, sniffling quietly to yourself.
You were one of the finest Anbu in Sunagakure, and yet you could be reduced to a blubbering mess right before Gaara’s eyes, it was entirely amusing.
“Welcome home.” he breathed out, leaning down to press a gentle kiss to your forehead.
“I got the scroll.” you said quietly, staring at his robes rather than his face, “They said…” tears started gathering at the corners of your eyes again. “Gaara you were dead… I don’t understand.”
“I’ll explain everything. I promise.” he said quietly. “Just come here. I haven’t seen you in months.” he pulled you back into his arms, hugging you tight to his chest.
In the midst of your panic, you had forgotten about that. You had been sent away on a mission, you were gone for four months. The mission had taken longer than you had predicted, it also didn’t help that in the middle of it you had received a scroll stating that your fiance was kidnapped and was dead.
But as an Anbu, you were sworn to finish what you had started, so you did; with a heavy heart. It had taken much longer to finish everything after the devastating news.
It felt as if you had died as well, the emptiness… the pain… it was all too much.
You had been betrothed to Gaara since the moment you guys were born. Fated to be together, alway by one another.
Despite the hardships, despite the way that Gaara used to be… you were always there. When he was called a monster, when he had killed countless people, when Shukaku was released… you were always there. Ready to protect and defend him.
You were indebted to Naruto. He had saved him when you couldn’t, and because of that, your relationship with Gaara bloomed into what it was now.
The unconditional love and devotion Gaara provided you was something that no one had anticipated. The gentle looks and touches were entirely foreign to you and to everyone else who witnessed it.
But his gentleness was completely sought after the first time you had a taste of it. This was how it was supposed to be, arranged marriage aside, you guys loved each other unconditionally.
Gaara knew that too, he was well aware of the pain and fear he had inflicted on you in your guys’ younger years. He hated himself because of it. He had hurt the one person that stood by him the most, the one person that never looked at him in fear, or with hate. When he had finally come to his senses, he had feared that you were finally going to leave him.
You never did. He was helplessly in love with you, something that he had never realized until after the first time he was able to sleep in such a long time, and you were right there by his side.
“You shouldn’t have sent me away.” you whispered, cupping his face gently after he had finished telling you what you had missed during your mission. “If I had remained by your side then you wouldn’t have gone through all of that.”
You were personally going to kill every Akatsuki member now.
He shook his head, moving his face to press a soft kiss into the palm of your hand. “It had to be you; you were the only one capable of making sure that the mission was completed properly. The Council and I had decided on it. But…” he frowned slightly, gently rubbing his thumb against the dirt sticking to your cheek. “If it were up to just me… I would never have you leave my side. You know I worry.”
Your lips parted at his sweet words; warmth seeped into your very being as he gazed at you with nothing but love in his beautiful eyes.
“I’m sorry to interrupt your reunion, but we really need to finish up this meeting Gaara…” Kankuro suddenly poked his head through the door, smiling sheepishly at you. “It’s good to have you back Y/n-chan. Gaara was moody the entire time you were away.”
A soft smile tugged at your lips; your soon to be brother-in-law was always a joy to have around.
“Kankuro.” Gaara said simply, the older male held his hands up in surrender, stating that he was just joking around.
“I’ll see you at home,” You said, reluctantly pulling yourself away from the redhead. “I dropped my report off at the front by the way.” you pressed a soft kiss against his cheek, giving him a loving smile before walking passed Kankuro and the Council members who were standing awkwardly in the hall.
A shower and warm meal were calling your name.

Gaara sighed softly as he quietly closed the door behind him, today was a long day, and quite honestly, all he wanted to do was curl up against your soft body and sleep. After the encounter in his office, you were the only thing he could think about the entire day.
His expression softened completely as he took notice of your sleeping form on the sofa. You were curled, your legs pulled to your chest, your hands tucked under your cheek, your lips parted softly as you breathed.
You were beautiful, and you were all his.
He hated sending you away on long dangerous missions like this one, fear ate away at his heart every single time. Gaara couldn’t lose you, he couldn’t bear the thought.
You were the last thing he thought of before he had died, and the first thing he thought of when he woke up.
Now that you were finally home, he never wanted you out of his sight again.
He sat on the sofa near your legs, gently brushing the hair away from your face before cupping your cheek. You stirred awake immediately, eyes fluttering open as you scanned the room before landing on the man you loved the most.
“Mmm… welcome home Gaara.” You breathed out, stretching out your body.
Gaara’s body warmed entirely at your welcome, a phrase he had missed dearly when you were away. He was home when you were by his side.
“Let’s go to bed.” he said softly, standing up completely now. His pale hand stretched out for you to grab, waiting patiently as you shuffled to your feet.
A soft smile grazed his lips as he watched you flop onto your shared bed; you wiggled yourself under the blankets, sighing in content.
Your eyes drooped once more in exhaustion before finally closing. It was only when familiar arms snaked across your body that you woke up once more.
Gaara pulled you softly against his chest, sighing in content as he buried his face into your neck, breathing in your sweet scent.
“I missed you.” You breathed out quietly, carefully rotating your body to face your fingers dragged carefully against the side of his face, watching as his eyes fluttered shut at your touch.
The gentle glow of a full moon was your only source of light as it beamed through your open window.
How was he so beautiful?
“I missed you too.” He said quietly, he leaned forward, gently brushing his cool lips against yours before finally capturing them in a desperate kiss.
You sighed softly, your arms wrapping around his neck as you pressed yourself as close to his body as possible. Your fingers tangled into his soft locks, your lips moving tenderly against his.
It was a kiss that spoke volumes of the gentle love you both felt for one another. It was a kiss that was long overdue, a kiss that both of you needed.
Gaara was still getting used to intimate touches, but kisses, he loved those entirely. He loved you entirely.
Anyways, I’m gonna write a fic where Gaara leaves Suna and Gai ends up adopting the poor, neglected kid (sound familiar). Lee ends up becoming his first friend when Gai brings Gaara around for training.
