I spent today designing a new character for my interpretation of the Tawnaverse. His name is Gaaro, and he is from the dwarf planet, Ceres. It’s pretty tiny, so it was a rather insular community to begin with. It’s so small, it was an easy target for a certain pollution-happy racer to set his sights on. As you can probably guess, the Ceresians found racing clunky & difficult to accomodate for their unusual body plans, and they lost. Gaaro is the only one left, as far as he knows. In the ultimate irony, Empress Velo assigned Gaaro to Team Sulfotep because they needed a fourth member. Sulfotep is the man behind the takeover of Ceres. Gaaro really hates his boss & wishes to escape, but there’s not much he can do in his current position. At least he can find some sort of shaky friendship in his fellow teammate, Phosphor. Who are Sulfotep and Phosphor? I think you will find out tomorrow. I guess Gaaro is a lot like Kamalon, though they aren’t really parallel versions of each other, just a matter of their respective universe’s Velos’ ambitions of conquest differing a little. In the main universe, Oxide misses Ceres completely & challenges Mars, while in the Tawnaverse, Sulfotep avoids Mars in favor of Ceres, which he views as more convenient.
About Gaaro’s species and anatomical features! his 3 “eyes” are assorted sensory organs with specialized purposes. The central eye is an actual eye, hence why it’s the only one with an eyebrow. The one with 2 “pupils” functions more like a nose, allowing him to smell things. It’s not his respiratory system, though, he cannot breathe using it. The one with 3 holes is like an ear, it detects sound and vibrations. Gaaro has 8 limbs, 4 legs he stands on, 2 manipulator hands derived from mandibles, and 2 attack hands (used like a whip or bolas) made of more flexible material than his exoskeleton with hard growths at the end. He has 2 mouths, one conventionally placed one under his “eyes” which he uses to speak and process simple foods like plant matter, and a second one that opens up under his shell. The second mouth is HUGE, and used for catching prey; Gaaro is an omnivore. He lacks bitter taste buds (so coffee tastes like hot water to him LOL). His walking legs are digitigrade and double jointed. He breathes through holes on the ends of them. They look a bit like pipes, come to think of it...
