Ok, after a short pause, let's get back to March!

Even tho I finished my thesis, I still had one last compulsory subject to complete. Oh boy, was I behind in class??? I had 6 assignments to do, 14 online classes to watch and like 5 days till my last test… oof.

With one of my assignments I could get a little bit of nostalgia, having to make a paper cube, it felt like elementary school again hahah

And another thing happened and made me super happy that week: I hadn’t made up even ¼ of my missed classes when I woke up to my friend calling me bcs the test had been rescheduled for that morning and I had like 2 hours till the due time. My primary defense mechanism is denial, so I obviously went to our class group to ask "WDYM THE TEST IS DUE IN TWO HOURS?” and to my absolute surprise, a bunch of them offered me help, gave me the answer to some questions, made themselves available to assist me… I thought they didn’t even know my name, and they were DMing me, asking how they could help me out… I was totally shocked and SUPER grateful. Thanks to them I could finish all of my compulsory subjects and finally graduate!

In the last week of February I had a very important job to do: babysit my feline nephews!

My sister was on a short trip with her boyfriend so I stayed in her apartment for a couple of days. Oh I loved being there, it was so peaceful, no traffic noise, no neighbors' noise, no one controlling my day, nothing to distract me, just me with Charlie and [sometimes] Noah.

It was the decisive days for my thesis work. The deadline to send it to my thesis defense committee was the 28th. I had so much to do, I pulled all-nighters in a row and I didn't think I'd be able to finish it early enough to share with my advisor, so I tried to do it as perfect as I could.

At 8 am on March 1st, my birthday, I finished writing my thesis. I sent it to my advisor [even tho I doubted he was going to read it on time] and tried to sleep a little, before I had to come back to my parents house. What happened with my thesis I already shared here: I sent it to the committee before my advisor could answer me, had a breakdown over it, anxiety crises, but the important thing is that everything worked out in the end.

You probably noticed that I'm doing a retrospective here, right? Well, I'm doing this bcs I want to have a record of my thesis process. I want to have it registered in something that I could trust more than just my mind. I want to remember that it wasn't easy, it took long months to finish it. Sometimes I wasn't steady enough with my work, plenty of times I thought I wouldn't make it. I was going through a lot at the same time, with quarantine and being far from my friends and the city I lived in for 5 years, with my dad going to the ICU 4 times in the last 2 years, with all the stress of the final year of college and master's applications.

I thought I was an imposter bcs I had to defend a work I was unsecured about. I didn't liked my project's theme, it had to grow on me. I wanted to do something so much bigger, I wanted to go through that experience of living in the lab while you're working on your thesis, you know? but I couldn't, little did I know that my fate was to be a class of covid-19.

I need that kind of record for the next time my anxiety tries to trick me by saying that the only reason I could make it is bcs it was easy or bcs I was in a good mental health condition. But I also need it bcs it shows how strong I was, how I kept trying despite things weren't working the way I originally idealized. I want to remember that everything worked out in the end, how I was able to be with my family, how my dad is doing much better now, how I was praised in my thesis defense, how I got an A for it, how professores were excited to keep contact with me bcs of my work. I want to remember myself how capable I am.
