Hello! I hope everyone is doing okay! So, since I’ll soon start my first semester of online classes, I decided to use this tool to try to help me stay motivated! Let's go!
゚・*☆¸¸.•*¨*• About me
⦁ Name: you can call me Tadesa ;)
⦁ Pronoms: She/Her.
⦁ Age: 25 yo (born in 1998)
⦁ Country: Brazil!
⦁ Languages: Portuguese (native) and English (C1), but I can understand Spanish too (B1).
⦁ Zodiac: Pisces 🐟🐟
⦁ Personality type: INTP 6w5 (Oh my, If I start talking about this, I’ll never stop!)
゚・*☆¸¸.•*¨*• Academics
⦁ I'm a undergrad student in Brazil; the college sistem here is very different from the USA's, but I guess I can say I'm majoring Oceanography.
⦁ So let's go, what is Oceanography?
⦁ Oceanography: It's a science field which studies, jointly, the chemical, physical, geological, biological and socio-environmental properties of the seas and oceans (+ other bodies of water). So, you can learn about how global warming influences the flow of ocean currents, and thereby changes the nutrient profile in the water, which causes displacement of plankton communities, which in turn affects all the rest of the food webs, which can lead to extinctions or even overpopulations, which, of course, can strongly influence both the local economy if it, for instance, is dependent on fishing or tourism, as well as the way population views ocean related topics. For example.
PS: This tumblr's name is all about this question! People aren't used to that word (I know), and when they hear it they always ask me: "Oceano o quê?" (said like /Oceano oke?/, meaning Ocean what?), so I tried to think of a expression in english that kinda sounded alike, resulting to: /Oceano-kei?/ (It's similar to /Oceano oke?/, right?, right???)
⦁ I'm almost graduating, although I'm a little late on my college program. (I put the blame on Calculus......)
⦁ I used to have a scholarship in a research project in Biological Oceanography area, from 2018 to 2020.
⦁ I’m now working on my undergraduate thesis!!
゚・*☆¸¸.•*¨*• Other interests
⦁ I like to learn stuff. I spend most of my time on the internet, searching for “interesting” informations, questions, news to read about. When I was a child, my favorite site was Wikipedia; usually, I have 50+ tabs open at the same time...
⦁ Although I may be failing at Calculus continuously, I... like math?? I think it's fascinating how there's a math equation for all things, real or not!
⦁ Positivity!
⦁ Kpop. It's been a big part of my life since 2016. I managed to attend a concert from my faves (MONSTA X), but, you know, I keep stanning more and more groups so... I need to get a good profe$$ion;
⦁ I’m a personality tests nerd. I'll do any personality test. For real.
⦁ I love online forums. I love to debate, exchange opinions. I always end up learning, both when I'm wrong and also how to articulate myself better;
⦁ I love to draw. Unfortunately, my motivation for drawing has been like a roller coaster since I joined college, but drawing is still something I really enjoy and also something I’m very proud of;
⦁ I love pixar/disney animated movies. It's just that, in addition to all its beautiful morals of the story, positivity messages, and knowing that children will watch these movies and acquire various essencials moral values without even realizing it, I can't help but be amazed by the whole design of the film, it's all so beautiful!
⦁ Besides all of that, I love new things: trying new food (eating, but also cooking/baking!), I'm always dyeing my hair (my current hair color is purple with blue, but I'm planning on changing to greyish pink), searching for new hobbies to try (on Pinterest... my weakness), new places to explore (most urban places and beaches; I'm really not a fan of walking trails), new experiences (I'm working on that… social anxiety said Hi!);
⦁ I’m weak for cute (and soft) stuff. I love cutesy on everything, from stationery, acessories, decoration, to songs, kpop concepts, characters, movies, up to relationships and stories in my imaginary world - although you can't really say it by looking at me;
⦁ I’m a dreamer. It goes both ways: I live on my mind all the time, but in real life I also tend to dream big (the only problem is that I don't know what I have to do to achive these dreams...); Some of my dreams involves traveling around the world, living in different countries, being a polyglot, working on board in the middle of the ocean, having a house full of kids... Oh and besides all that, I want to do something for the planet, the planet as a whole, not only humans, but the environment, the oceans, animals... man, if I do something that helps it in 0.000001%, or at least reduce the existing losses, I would already feel fulfilled.
゚・*☆¸¸.•*¨*• Goals for this blog
⦁ I hope to motivate myself to study by participating in study challenges and posting original content regularly; and also by seeing other people studying (I'm not very good at studying alone; I usually go to the library to study because there, seeing everyone studying, I feel guilty if I'm daydreaming);
⦁ Also, it'd be great if I could get more people to know about Oceanography;
⦁ And it'd be amazing if I could interact more with such incredible people from this community! :3
These photos are from a couple of days ago, at the company party. Oh, just 9 more days of work and I'm going to have a holiday break, can't wait!
I'm applying to Erasmus mundus again this year. Of the required documents, I still have to adjust my CV and motivation letter. There'll be 3 programmes and I wrote a motivation letter for each one. I can only say that I have my favorite and this one goes to my choice number 1! The preliminary results come out on 02/15, I hope I pass this stage, fingers crossed! 🤞🏼✨
Yesterday I took TOEFL for the 2nd time. It was my first time in a college since my graduation last year!
I was so nervous in the last 2 weeks but I think I got a good score. So far, I only know my scores for Reading (29) and Listening (27). In 2021 I got 23 for Reading and 30 for Listening, with a total of 98. I don't know if I did well in the Speaking, I'm waiting for a medium low score like 17-20, and a good one for writing, something between 22-24. Yeah, I'm not expecting so much of it. That is bcs I put on my mind the I only need 87, so whatever comes more than 87 is a bonus! Let's keep it realistic to not get upset later.
Well, when I get my results I come back here to show it to you!

Hey guys, I want to comeback to the studyblr community, so I need a list of active tumblrs to follow! Please, if you are one, like or rebblog this post!
It’s exam season✨ which means writing exams, manually randomizing answer choices and questions to prevent cheating, trying to fit as many questions as possible onto each page (to avoid paper waste)
what you don’t get is science exists because people can love. medicine exists because people love each other enough to want each other to live long healthy lives. astronomy exists because someone loved the stars and the planets enough to track them through their ever changing position in the darkest night. science exists because humans are curious little creatures and we want to know the world around us and understand it like it does us. we know stars and planets worlds away, we’ve sent cameras worlds away, all because we love the universe, and we also put love in those satellites!! we sent the sound of a 100 languages, lovely messages, the sound of rain and a laugh, all out there just in case there’s someone in the universe looking for us like we do them, and so that they know that they were never alone, and we sent them the most simple loving things we could find.
Anyone else is in the journey of taking TOEFL?? I took it in 2021 but it expired in September so I have to take it again ugh. I had made an appointment for February but as I was reading some erasmus programmes' applications rules I found I'd have to re-schedule it to December... Now I'm overworked and overwhelmed with this.
I ttook the free trial from test glider, the same website I used 2 years ago, and my score declined (98 to 83), even compared to my first trial ever (89) when I didn't even know what was TOEFL like.
I'm thinking if I should buy 1 month of test glider to study for the next 2 weeks or I stick to the same thing I did the last time, using free apps for training... SEND HELP
