Hmm, possibly! But why are they red/pinkish, with hotspot centers? The antagonist also seems to be throwing them at Sonic and company, so it makes me think they are more like a weapon. Or maybe a tool for subduing its targets, like those sticky tar balls in The Incredibles.

They could be manifestations of matter though.

Hey! I don't remember if you comented on this before but What do you think about the Jap version of PPG? personally I only saw 1 ep... It seems like the not the most original anime but I like the design I guess xD
